  1. I'm hoping to insure my car for a day in order to get it to the mot station and back again. This is my third subaru which I have had for 4 years, and I have been driving them for the last 8 years or so and have no points or convictions (so far...) so I am not exactly new to these cars. I am now insured on something else and my current insurers, although I did mention it when I took out the policy consider imprezas too high a risk and wont go near me. Having tried many other companies who mostly directed me to the online only companies nobody seems to be able to give me 24hrs of cover!!! Does anyone know of any schemes or companies who do short term insurance for imported vehicles?? Many thanks
  2. Might be worth getting it done before it goes too far. When I had mine done I had two options. A skimmed flywheel or a new one. I qualified for the skimmed option if they could send mine away for skimming. I then get a skimmed one they have in stock. If it was too far gone and couldn't be sent away I'd have had to pay for a new one. Wasn't scoobyworld, but was the scheme offered where I had it done
  3. Litchfields have been quite helpful for me if I've needed to know if I need a Spec C variant of a part or not. Other than that most of the stuff comes from Japan if it's that specific, and people that I've dealt with have been happy to order them. I had a pulley go on the aircon pump (which sounded quite scary) and got the, it's an import will have to order it blah blah etc but it was here within a few days. I don't know if there are that many Spec C specific parts, I think a lot of the parts are straight STI. Delivery times can be longer than predicted when say, a volcano decides to go up!!!!!!!!! Fortunately it's not anything vital I'm waiting for lol! As for plugging in the ECU to a local dealer I don't know.
  4. I wired mine into the stereo wiring. With mine being an after market stereo I needed an extra harness. So having identified what did what I did all the connections on the kitchen table (plenty of light and room!), then put the harness where it should be and fed the connections for the gauges up to the pod.
  5. Could be a mix up. Insure the car for what is is or else you could end up in trouble if there's a problem, but what appears on the V5 I think depend on what it was imported as, some model specifics may have been missed off.

  8. I reckon you should be able to do it. Be interesting to hear what you get, there seem to be a lot of variance in the figures. I manage about 230 miles on 40 litres, used to get just over 300 on 50. 230 miles is in a spec C, 300+ was in a 2003 wrx with PPP and a MY00 classic with PPP.

I tend to use mine half a turn back from maximum, an inch of product in the bottle and topped up with warm water, still quite a bit of foam but you don't get through anywhere near as much product. Having said that maximum on mine is when it's turned all the way to "-" lol!! Obviously a generous blast with it on full is quite often required , but the bottle does empty quickly! If you find it a bit pathetic it may be the nozzle needs adjusting. You can adjust the spray pattern by turning the black plastic nozzle, and when it's closed not a lot happens, but it is quite sensitive. Have fun!!

I got mine done at the dealer as car was still under warranty, apparently they'd never seen a car with the problem, then when I went back a year later with the same problem the comment went along the lines of "we did one of these a year ago, don't get them very often..." Not a massive amount of help to you, sorry, but part of my problem may have been a bent prong in the connector, they are a bit fragile. Think it had been bent when I had the downpipe fitted and they plugged it back together as cel came on instantly, "that'll be the lambda sensor sir" followed by mass panic when it wasn't lol!!! It was recommended to me on here that you remove them but I chose not to, didn't look to be that much cheaper and then the possibility of other stuff to go with it i didn't bother. I can see why they're there but a bit of a PITA IMHO!
  12. The standard speakers are pretty pathetic, more like something you'd dunk in your tea lol! The corsa spacers were something recommended to me and the speakers went in about 5 years ago I think so a corsa at least that old
  13. Not sure on that specific adaptor but I've used a corsa spacer from halfords on a newage before now. 2 out of the 3 holes lined up so I just had to make a 3rd myself. IMHO, P1 more exclusive, lighter, maybe more fun to drive, er, looks..... 6 monthly service intevals STI newer mechanicals with a few more years development and yearly upgrades, stronger 6 speed box, brembos unless P1 has alcons, quite a few different parts, hopefully all changed for the better, but that depends what you want.....annual service intervals, more expensive brakes and clutch? Have a look for wear and tear items prices. I had a classic, great fun, big kick in the back when the power came in, very sure footed in the corners, damn good fun but the gear box got a little noisy so I traded it in. Then I had a newage wrx, don't know if it wasn't the best example, but I never really got on with it. I'm sure it was quick but it didn't feel like it, geometry needed sorting out (which the classic didn't) and it didn't feel as chuckable, and again the gearbox got noisy so again traded it in.. Now have a spec C and the kick I got with the classic is back and I'm quite happy again!! Been too long out of a classic to remember if the two are as nimble in the corners, but the spec C has got AST's fitted as the standard setup was abolutely rock hard and knocking like a goodun! When I bought the WRX the dealer said the car had "grown up" and it felt like it. Car felt better put together and power delivery felt smoother but for me I preferred the slightly more raw driving experience you get with a classic. Horses for courses and all very much IMHO! Definitely a case for some proper test drives, the best way to make your mind up! All things being equal advice would normally be go for the newest or best you can afford, but the P1 is a bit special!
