johns Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 As I mentioned yesterday, the MLR are organising a timed sprint at Ingliston (next to Edinburgh airport) next Sunday from 9am to 7pm. Places are restricted to a maximum of 30 cars, and there are currently 9 slots remaining. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. So far it's mostly EVOs and some SKylines that are taking part, but the event is open to all. This will be one car on track at a time, and it will be against the clock - time to see how you really compare against other cars and drivers ! A bit like Alford, but a more interesting track layout [] Full details on the event and how to book (please quote if you are an SIDC member when booking - may get it at MLR member rates as we have an long standing arrangement with the MLR to allow memebers of each club to book onto each others events at member's rates). Cost will be £45 for non members, and £30 for MLR members (and possibly SIDC members). It should be a cracking day out, and I would be there if I wasn't on holiday next week. the squiggle Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Personally i think it would be an excellent oppertunity to show the Evo boys some proper power
Russs Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 MMMMMMMM Very interesting................... Even more evo scalps, I wonder...................[6] CraiG Be nice to see you there Craig. Yours appeared to be comfortably the quickest scoob there yesterday (maybe bar Wilkies unfortunate breakage). Can see I'll need to get some sticky rubber and a more committed attitude to show you a clean pair of heels at Knockhill! [H] Incidentally, what happened to you towards the end of the session when you pulled out of the pits behind me? Didn't see you re-appear in my mirrors despite a clear track and a dozen laps.....![] I had a much better grasp of the car and track by then , maybe that was the difference [] Anyway, suspect you may find the tables are turned a little at Ingliston [] John, didn't realise the discount worked both ways, cost me an extra £7! [] Never mind [] Just had a thought, how ironic would it be if I am handing out a trophy to a scoob next week! [:$][*-)][]
craig mac Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Russs I was down below 1/4 a tank and getting fuel surge, and that was around 12 and not really worth popping out to get more fuel and come back up. And as you will know when you get that you also get wee flashes on the knocklink, So that was game over for the day. I was running road tyres yesterday, as were you i believe? Clean pair of heels...............na[] [] It was a great day, my car ran well and i was chuffed when the Ultima could not get away from me too[H] He was imprezsed, he came over for a chat too. Next week, i might make a wee guest appearance, but i dont like the idea of 1 lap times though, need time to get the tyres etc all warmed up properly to be safe, before you give it some Macing[] It was a good day all in and if i dont pop down on Sunday, good luck, If i do pop down, you will need even more[][] CraiG
gus the bus Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Go on Craig! you know you want to[6] I'll even come through and watch (as a witness of course[][]) Might make the trip through for a swatch anyhoo. anyone else? Gus

FPMSL[:'(] My other half might not be to imprezed like...............But hey, imagine getting handed one of the MLR cups![] Pity i could not get the avc-r done and an Andy visit for a wee tweek before it[] CraiG
sheep Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Go on Craig! you know you want to[6] I'll even come through and watch (as a witness of course[][]) Might make the trip through for a swatch anyhoo. anyone else? Gus Gus i think me and my brother are going, i will text you at the weekend to let you know.
fai17 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Sounds interesting indeed What time does it start?
johns Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 Peter - read the first sentence of my post, and you'll find out the starting time [] Basically it's on all day [] John
The Admiral Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Hi John! Thanks for posting this up [] This is our first MLR Scottish Sprint and I can confirm SIDC members will be entitled to the £30 price (and non-members £45) [H] Who knows, this might become a more regular MLR/SIDC event? Only six places left now - please phone Mechell on 0845 12 LANCER (526 237) to book a place ASAP!! Loads of other details are on the MLR thread... Open 9am-7pm, timed runs (either one lap, or two at a time depending upon folks' preference), burger van, first aid for bruised egos etc etc all supplied... A target time for Craig is the 1m25s set in a Primera in the wet [sn] Cheers Rog
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I have another wedding ....meh !! Have fun chaps and stay safe ! May the best 4WD / man combo win on the day......skill is worth way more than brute power on this little belter of a course Cheers Cal
johns Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Hi Rog, I'm hoping that between us we can encourage a few Imprezas along to take part - we certainly had plenty of them at Alford this year so there are plenty out there who are keen. Even though I'm on holiday, I'm going to try and make it along to watch for a few hours in the afternoon. I'm sure once the first one books on, the remaining slots will fill very quickly indeed. Hope the event is a great success, and we can look forward to more next year. Who knows, we may even be able to start a regular competition. John
craig mac Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I am seriously considering this folks, But i am not going to be the only Scoob there am i? I really need to beat that Primera time[] Also, why do we not get timed events at Knockers? Is that down to the insurance issue? CraiG
johns Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Craig, it would be classified as racing, which would open a whole can of worms regarding insurance, safety regulations etc. Sprints etc have differrent classes including road going cars, which permit these to be used (one car on track at a time) without extensive safety mods. Insurance would also be a nightmare. I'm sure there are a few on here who will book up, but just don't want to be first. Would be nice for at least one Impreza to come away with a trophy [] John
Darin Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Hi John, Scoobaroo has just booked up for the Scottish Sprint with his Impreza STi [H] - hopefully the first of several SIDC members! (BTW - we only have 4 more places left []) Cheers, Darin
johns Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Excellent Darin, Craig and JohnSt - make the necessary arrangements and grab two of those last 4 places before someone else deprives you of the chance/bragging rights. You won't get so much fun for £30 as you will on this day [] John
The Admiral Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Thanks to Martin and Andy who have paid up [H] We have a Focus RS, MR2 Turbo, Scoob STi and Lotus Elise now for a bit of variety [au] Only one place left now!! Come on Craig - no Primeras are running!!! Cheers [D] Rog
The Admiral Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 All places now filled, pending payment [^] Rog
scoobaroo Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Where are ya Craig ???? Your chance to put some Evos to the sword, and a run against me [] would have been fun m8 [Y] Get your name on the reserve list sharpish. Surely im not the only Scoob running against the "enemy" [] All support would be gladly appreciated [] Marty.
ColinVW Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Guess who booked the last place??? Wouldn't it be nice if a fwd motor took a trophy []
