I`m sure you`ll have the car back soon, with the problem area strenghthened and raring to go for next season. Theres a fair bit of power going through that drive train and transmission [] Looked very quick before it broke tho [Y] Marty.
gus the bus Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Wondered what had happened Wilky! bummer[N] hope you get it sorted Ok[Y]
jcscoob Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Faither thats not so good mate[] If your ripping through WRC boxes like there made in the cadburys factory[], at least you have a pukle'o'months to get sorted out[]. Maybe you need some tungsten tipped cogs and a bell housing like the channel tunnel[] Good luck buddy [] Ps, nice title[y]
st3ph3n Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 When you can hear the turbo spooling up as you exit the hairpin all the way from the pit wall then you know it's special. Wilky, good things come to those who wait. You've waited and you know it's good, but it's almost great if not outstanding. Once the bugs are ironed out and the car can handle it, then you get it mapped to even more bar then I have no doubt that you'll have a car that would put £200K machines well in their place.
wilky Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 Im off to trawel through lots of old posts on 22b when the 1/4 milers were trashing gearbox components, I canny sleep. Think Ill drop AlanG a pm as well. And talk to Uncle Andrew, And Uncle Bill.

paul_honthy Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Wilky,I was speaking to AlanG last week about finding someone to fix my straight cut box.He suggested to speak Neil Engineering in Glengarnock as he says these boys know their stuff when it comes down to non standard gearboxes. Hope that may be of some help. Scotty

andrew_lally Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 i know the feeling wilky....never even made it up there hahaahha engine let go... and gearbox was whining and jumping out of second before the engine let go...so needing engine and box!!! nightmare.....what box you runnign to hold 500bhp....i canny get one to hold 310bhp!!! been looking at gear kits but they damn pricey!!!....cheapest i seen so far is £1200 but i spent that in gearboxes in the last year...so in hindsight i would have been cheaper getting the kit lol lol hope you get it fixed soon mate!!!! regards andy

AlanG Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Quote I'm sure Greers use thwm too They're only round the corner after all! More than likely if Greer don't build boxes.
wilky Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 Andy, Im running a prodrive S2 Gp N box. They were made by hewland, the gears are not the issue, its all the surrounding components that are now failing. Im almost certain now that Its the clutch thats gone, but I wont know until I get it down the Greers and we get her on a ramp, Im not 555 Pavement Squadding it, its getting too cold. If you need running gear and an engine PM me your telephone number and Ill speak to some people and see if they can help you out. Alan, I think they do use them, Likewise drop me your phone number by PM and Ill call you when your back. Regards Callum
ScoobyDougie Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Can recommend another 'transmission overhaul shop' if you want to give them a try....Strathclyde Gearbox Services Ltd. tel: 0141 647 0534. They are based just behind the old Richmond Laundry in Rutherglen. Cheers.
