gus the bus Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Not sounding good[N][] poor wee bugger!
Dougie C Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Doctors say they hope that he will pull through. Top Gear wont be the same without him having the disagreements with Jeremy and James. Dougie
vicki Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Unfortunately just heard on the news that Hamster has suffered brain damage from the crash [:'(] oh dear God, that is not good []
stripe Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 The wee man will pull through, my thoughts go out to his young family
oobster Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I think the doctors were choosing their words carefully, because they said they are "reasonably optimistic" he would make a good recovery. Hope he makes a FULL recovery, very quickly - top gear won't be the same without him.
andy Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Already £2500 raised online ...got to be good news []http://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond?page=1 Up over £13,500 now. Unbelievable. []
the squiggle Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Speedy recovery wee man as the new series starts on Oct 8th Top Gear dog is standing in for the Hamster and will be racing a Hot Air balloon over the alps with Top Gear dog driving a Berlingo
Gumball Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 i hope that he makes it through and gets back on the telly sharpish without any problems http://www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-6096218,00.html
Dougie C Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Fingers crossed he is on the mend A Leeds General Infirmary spokesman said: "Doctors say Richard Hammond is making satisfactory progress. "This morning he has been moved from intensive care on to a high dependency unit. "His condition has been downgraded from 'serious but stable' to 'stable'." The doctors treating Mr Hammond have previously said they are "reasonably optimistic" he will make a good recovery. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/north_y...ire/5369512.stm Dougie
RA Dunk Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 just hope he gets through this with no long term injuries , top gear wouldent be the same with out him and jeremy having a go at each other
micra_wrc Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 yup, hope he makes a full recovery with no long term injuries.
craig mac Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Wow 35k to date Amazing how our hearts all pull together Craig
st3ph3n Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 James May says he's talking - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5371556.stm Fantastic news for the wee fellow.
Alan-G Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 He'll be fine I'm sure. A bruised brain (which can happen) is what I think he has suffored. I m not a doctor, just a hopefull individual. I think his wife and kids will be delighted that he has a slight sense of humour. (Last report I got).
Alan-G Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Quote from the BBC : The 36-year-old presenter suffered a "significant brain injury" when he crashed a jet-powered car at a speed of up to 300mph during filming. Who's saying that he caused the crash? Maybe the BBC are wiping their hands clean? I think the parachute caused the crash. (my opinion only BTW) Why would he deliberately swerve off the runway?
oobster Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I don't read the Sun but apparently there was a quote from JC in it where he said something along the lines of Hamster could talk but it was all gibberish and mutterings. So said the news reporter on Sky earlier this afternoon. Hope that aint correct. Edit: Just had a look at the justgiving site and it's now slightly below £60K. Wow.
Fab 1 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I have just heard that he has been moved from Intensive Care, and his Neurosurgeon's have stated that he has his sense of humour back and is joking with the doctor's. [] That is good news! Jen
the squiggle Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Clarkson saying to him "What a cr*p driver" as he was regaining consciousness, Hamster apparently responded with a wry smile. Anyone see the news at 6 when 2 drivers visited the Leeds hospital where Hamster is being treated. One in a Mondeo and the other in a stickered up Scoob
Dougie C Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Yep I saw that Mr Squirrel and was wondering if it was anyone from SIDC Dougie
lescazscoob Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 http://motoring.aol.co.uk/hammond-speaks-t...922022609990001 latest on poor hammond get well soon bud
dipsy Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 It good to hear Richard is slowly on the mend
HairyDJ Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 mondeo man was stickered up and personal plate as MENU - also might get some unwanted attention for the big number 10 on his door not being crossed through (or has that strange bit of law gone now?). Y reg Scoob was stickered up as D Smith & J Dolan - David Smith was the second chap that they interviewed.
