scoobyjim Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 my cars always ran on optimax and on monday i needed a refill and got this new vpower stuff, £30 worth. tbh i havent noticed any performance gains but i have noticed the petrol gauge needle seems to be taking longer to drop to empty which is all good! anyone else noticed better mpg on v power?
Derek FKS 85 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Funny you should say that, I took my Mum home to Kelso the other night and got there and back on less than 1/4 of a tank. My just be my imagination but I do think there's a difference. No noticable difference in performance though. I'll keep my eye on it.
craig mac Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Mine is Popping and bangin more i noticed.....As for mpg LOL Maybe get about 18 / 20 to the gallon Craig
thefastone Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Now this is somehting, It might just be me, but i dont really know if I'm actually getting any better mpg from it, or optimax when I was using that.... [:|] I'm sure that I get better mpg from 95RON....... []
scientific steve Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 before the map my one was popping and banging like a good un but after the remap all that stopped [] but after using the new stuff i can see better mpg, depending on how heavy mr right toe is [], also a few slight pops but alas no bangs the engine seems to be better all round as far as i can tell, been driving quite a few hundred miles these past few weeks in the thing for one reason or another
Power Junkie Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 so far all i have noticed is the Knocklink is very quiet [] not through a tank yet but I am trying.
fai17 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Mine is Popping and bangin more i noticed.....As for mpg LOL Maybe get about 18 / 20 to the gallon Craig Mines too ....popping and banging with the new stuff[] How many miles do you get to the last quarter of a tank Craig??
higgy Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 mines is poping and the boys tonight sad that im shooting flames on gearchange . I am slso getting beter fuel consumption , set a record going to Gretna Green , i got 228 miles from a tank on high map. Higgy
frank c Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Can't say i've noticed any power gains but am looking forward to more mpg's .. I'll fill up tomo and let you know how it goes Frank
craigwrx Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Haven't done any test's, but it does appear the the needle is not moving down so quick ....
ormiboy Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Im on my third tank and am quite pleased so far. Less background knock on the commander, lower lift of det peaks. Worse fuel consumption tho? I have only started trying more advance so cant really comment on that yet, but over all happy chappy. Well untill they whack on the 2-4p price hike. Willie. But it will be nice to see the RR graph on sat.
bryan_taylor Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I have to say, I thought it was just my imagination till I read this thread - looks like my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. The needle is definately taking longer to go down!
Ross9 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Still working my way through the first tank in the type R. I always fill the car up though, never just stick £10 or £20 in it as it's false economy anyway. Usually get 250/260 ish to a tank, think the highest I've had is just under 280. So will see how this tank goes on the v-power as opposed optimax. Ross
sandyRS16i Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 not noticed any mpg difference, but have seen an extra light come on on my lambdalink, so it must be making a bit of difference over Optimax. Anyone else notice this?
Auldy Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 getn a bit more mpg, not really made any difrence perfomance wise, well nothing noticable. hopefully it will stay around the 98p mark getn fed up o the changin in prices [:@]
RA Dunk Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 hmm if anything my consumption seems to be getting worse and my cars been mapped for it [] getting some nice pops and bangs though when coming off throttle []
scientific steve Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 thats because your right foot aint been off the floor after the remap [][][] this may be your cause of low mpg []
RA Dunk Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 aye well errrrr hmmmmm, Ac!D looks at the floor and whistles to himself [] Andy.F did mention my lambda sensor was fooked dunno if thats contributing, WUZ told me it could be that as well
scientific steve Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 good as any reason i suppose [] you going to the rr day then bud?
RA Dunk Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 i quite fancy it TBH, but im pretty wary about going down incase i get nabbed again, still waiting for the last one to come in one more for me and no more license [] so im not really keen on the drive down that road again till i get some sort of anti laser thingy []
scientific steve Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 dont think we'll be caining it just sit at the back of the group, then you'll be ok []
RA Dunk Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 dont think we'll be caining it just sit at the back of the group, then you'll be ok [] aye, ill be the first one they come up behind []
