colin_ross Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Can't remember what thread it was but someone was interested in starting a group buy on AP 6 pots. Anyway, looks like someones saved you the bother..... http://bbs.scoobynet.com/ap-6pots-and-t536810.html No prices yet but might be idea to register your interest.
dave_morgan Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 The best grand you'll spend on your car IMHO.
st3ph3n Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Replied! I await the heart stopping moment when the cost is revealed.
sma01 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 these are definitely worth getting, got mines a few months back and they are superb...... scott
philip_wilson Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 If the price is right I might be intrested []
colin_ross Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 No good posting up here Philip, better to do it on the other thread if you're interested..
RA Dunk Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 see theres a theres a good bit of intrest already , mostly people from sidc as well [] i spoke to somebody today with the AP 6 pots and he said they were immense! [H]
drb5 Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 AP's are never discounted enough IMHO. £1200-£1250 is what i reckon they'll be....still worth it though. []
johns Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Agreed. About 10% is the most you'll get off, but well worth every penny. You won't believe the difference in driver confidence and stopping distances you can get with decent brakes, especially from high speeds. John
Carl Davey Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Have registered my interest Colin. [] I agree i'm not expecting discount hand over fist but always said these would be the first serious mod on the RA as i quickly remembered how bad the OEM 4-pots are after buying it. []
colin_ross Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 I'm with you Carl, try 4 pots with sh&gged discs and pads of unknown origin.[] Keeping my fingers crossed for a mega price.
RA Dunk Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 lol try the OE two pots i have and you`ll see wot sh!t brakes are like []
Carl Davey Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 You're right. But if you fitted the 4-pots i'd wholly expect you to be entirely underwhelmed with the difference. Colin, my fingers are crossed here too. I'll break the bank for them lol.
wrxmania Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Is it true that a decent set of 2 pots can be set up well with proper discs and pads to rival the 4 pots - due to 4 pots suffering from more heat soak (or something like that)??? Brian []
Carl Davey Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I could easily imagine that to be the case Brian. The best discs i had on my 4-pots and currently have on my new car are Tar-Ox ones. I'd imagine these discs with suitable pads on 2-pots vs standard discs/pads on 4-pots to be fairly similarly matched. Even with the Tar-Ox discs and braided hoses the 4-pots on the RA are just far too marginal for the cars performance, hence why i said the first big money i'd spend on it would be on AP's. To be honest i've probably got a bit to gain just by changing the fluid but while i'm down there i may as well changed the calipers, discs, bells, pads etc. []
wrxmania Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 "while I'm down there" - I like that quote - I can something similar "While I was online, I thought I may as well just buy it then to save time" etc with the wife What is your car Carl & any pics? Brian []
wrxmania Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Just checked your site Carl - Fridge v.2 is coming along well!
Carl Davey Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Yeah i like it, much less bling this time. [H] Finally getting to the end of 'going through the motions' fitting the Defi's, Knocklink etc. Hopefully get the wheels on soon which will make a big difference with fresh rubber. Then some brakes perhaps!?
paul_massie Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 just read this and looked at his pics said he got them bought and fitted with goodridge hoses for £1400
RA Dunk Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 they look the muts nuts though , mucho stopping power []
RS Grant Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 There were a LOT of AP's floating around in the Pit Lane on Saturday...... [H][] Cheers, Grant
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I have been a spirited run in Jools's weapon with these bad boys fitted. Words cannot express how good these are. They will rearrange your body akin to the days of Automan ! Nofade and instant stopping power. Harnesses recommended ! Rgds Cal
colin_ross Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Looks like the prices have just been confirmed, £1250 from Godspeed.
