Price on the pump at Leven was 100.9p Asked the woman behind the counter and she didn't have a clue. Also she said she didn't know when they would get it back in. What a joke. Link to comment

david_taylor
Just filled up in Perth. 104.9p a litre right enough. Asked the guy in the garage if he has had problems. Informed me that he has very little left and does not have any idea when he is getting a new delivery. If you are from Perth or surrounding area, I would get over there today. He reckens he has enough to last till end of day. The plot thickens!! D Link to comment
ed-209
I had to used BP the other day ( the one just at Muirhead on the A80) they where charging 103.9 for 97Ron. Today as Cumbernauld Shell is still out of Optimax I used the Esso at Cumbernault town center their super unleaded 97Ron was 94.9, I also had a little chat to the manageress about what was going on with the fuel, ESSO and Shell both get their fuel direct from grangemouth. She was telling me that since Shell ran out they have almost doubled there sales of the super unleaded and ranout after a few days, but got another tanker with 48hr, So Shell are just spinning stories, My car is happy to run on 97ron fuel so I think Shell are going to loose out in the long run here. Also got another email from Shell, more fairy stories I think. Here is that email. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Reid, I am sorry if you found my response unsatisfactory. I can assure you, it was not my intention to fob you off. I have consulted again with our distribution department, and they have re-iterated that there were distribution issues at the root of the problems with Optimax supply, and that they fully expect most affected sites to be restocked with Optimax by the end of the weekend. Regards, Richard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think at 94.9p I will stick with esso for a while. Ed. Link to comment
scoobymark
think i will join you for some of that 94.9p stuff! My local garage in kilsyth has had no optimax for a week now, went to old inns, none there too, so headed to camelon and guess what none there too! Phoned stirling shell garage and they also have none so had to settle for esso super unleaded at £1.09 litre. Link to comment
david_taylor
Remeber all....if you have a uk spec car, then normal unleaded is fine. I have ran on this on many occasion and had no problems. I was assured on my last subaru service that its not a problem and no re-map is needed! Peace of mind for me! Link to comment
Gumball
yeah as above.............unless your driving something imported, mapped to optimax or optimax plus booster than dont be blinkered into the whole " I NEED OPTIMAX" mindset. I was tempted to fill up with goatsmilk today rather than drive around looking for the ever decreasing optimax in glasgow Link to comment

So any one with an import should check there handbook. Chris how much was the goatsmilk. Link to comment

corsa
5000ltrs of the stuff in Burnside and no issues with Optimax deliveries as another one is due on Tuesday. Link to comment
alistair_learmonth
Was told the problem was that Shell in Clydebank who bring in Optimax for distribution had all there vehicles put over to unleaded deliveries for some reason or another. so it was a distribution thing, all this from my local supplier who found out after 6 phone calls, as for deliveries again I have not been back to find out. Now using BP ultima and everythings groovy in STi with no great loss of performence except the blinking prices. Might not go back to Shell! Link to comment
