About lv-426

  1. Hi, Just wondering if the driver of the blue WRXS I was following in West Lothian yesterday afternoon is an SIDC member ? I was in the Midnight Blue STI 330S (with a bike on the roof) that was behind you for a while in a 'new shape' convoy. Obviously bought at a similar time as reg plate only out by a few letters in the last position. Would be interested to hear opinion of the 'S' models, as i think my 330S is great, although not really had the chance to really push it on dry roads yet ..... will I have the time before the speed limit drops to 50mph
  2. I do try acknowledge other Scoobs, but sometime by the time you've spotted them, they're past you, & some folks just don't know there is a Scoobie community out there & just live in their own little world. Mind you, we should give them the benefit of the doubt as they obviously have excellent taste in cars
  3. Looks like you've done a good job on getting it back on the road - hope you enjoy it & have more luck than I did
  4. thing is, my mp3 player doesn't seemed to be recognised as actually being connected, so not sure turning volume up will help (sorry, wasn't clear in my original post !)
  5. just wondering how to get the AV inputs in the centre console of my 08 STi to talk to the entertainment unit, as I plug my mp3 player in but cannot get a sound out through the head unit. Any ideas anyone ? John
  6. Saw a white 08 STi in Livingston Homebase carpark this afternoon - practising snow handling, I was
  7. Any room for another Scoob in Carnwath ? Hopefully I'll be able to blend in for a quiet Saturday morning to Peebles John
  8. Thanks for the info, but whereabouts in Bathgate is it ?
  9. Folks, Given the weather at the moment, I'm feeling kinda lazy, so can anyone recommend a reasonable hand car wash place, either for self use or with a selection of bods with sponges Work in Edinburgh & live in West Lothian, if that helps narrow the search
  10. Gav, Know what you mean, as last year some muppet wrote my STi off when he lost control on a bend - at the time you tend to react & hope you can escape. Then you can be thankful you're around to ponder the "what if" scenarios, I know I am Could be biased, but I like to think that being in a Scoob rather than a Euro-mini has something to do with still being able to walk .......
  11. Why do people take life so seriously ? Consider the jokes that come out of comedians mouths & compare it to Clarkson ! Top Gear is no longer anything other than motoring based entertqainment & should be treated as such - light hearted entertainment by 3 blokes who are in the fortunate position of not having to act like grown-ups. How much do I envy them
  12. I was under the impression that most tracking systems notify 'someone' if the car is being stolen, i.e. moving without the use of a key & the one on the new STi is no different, it's just that the communication is done via a mobile phone. It does look as though it is down to you to notify the police of the theft & looks tricky if you don't have access to the internet (have to contact dealer/Group 4 Security), but it does give GPS coordinates of the car that can be passed to the police, as opposed to some options that require the police to be within range of the unit's "distress call". would be better if the info could be fed direct to the police, but that might be possible, haven't looked into it in that much detail (although should do, as being prepared should be every boy scouts motto !) An interesting option is that once notified, you have the option of texting back to the unit to immobilise the vehicle (according to the dealer - I haven't had to do it yet thankfully), reducing the risk of a high speed chase. Not sure what happens if the car is moving, as if you switch it off, surely the steering locks, brake assist doesn't work, which could be dangerous ..... Over & above that, you can set other triggers to check if someone exceeds a preset speed (useful if your partner has enthusiastic tendencies, but be prepared to be caught out yerself !). Overall, I don't think it's a bad piece of kit, it could be better, but it puts you in control, which isn't always a bad thing ....
