st3ph3n Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Good to see everyone. Not the best turnout, but the jaunt down to Helensburgh was magic. Great road that.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Could'nt make it tonight, sorting things out for remap tomorrow. Never saw any of you. I headed out the cardross road at about 2030. But then again you probably came over the Black Hill [] Glen Fruin is a good night time blaster from Cross Keys roundabout to Base []
st3ph3n Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 We went past duck bay then hung a left. I've never been on it before, except maybe as a small child out on a run with my folks. It was a great road. Up and down and round about.
dougster Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 MOD road, brings you out at lower gate at Faslane?
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 MOD road, brings you out at lower gate at Faslane? It brings you out at the top of the hill above Garelochead. they guys must have just taken the main road, still good for a blast though []
dougster Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Is the 'lower' gate known as the 'north gate'?? I have delivered there before and that road as well as the Coulport road are fantastic.
fai17 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Sorry i couldn't make it but i had to work to make my last million..[]
Gumball Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 we didnt take the glen fruin road tonight, we zapped over the garelochead road to faslane then down into the paradise restaurant for a chippy then back along past duckbay. good blast

ally-b Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 We took the ex-MOD road to Faslane - stopping at the viewpoint to take in all the secrets and await the stragglers []Smoking brakes were the order of the day . We then headed down to Helensburgh pier carpark where we decided to go 'posh' and sit-in for grub 'cos it was Billyboys' Allys 13th [<)]. . . nothing to do with the sub-zero conditions [] We then went to a private racetrack where my old jalopy still managed to pull 125mph , with the gubbed turbo (0.6bar max), before my line was ruined and I had to slow down - I can only put it down to the other cars co-pilots choice of meal [] I hope we can have a few more 'meets' like this , instead of sitting about - the nights are getting lighter and I have loads of routes like tonights which we can do , 2hr round trip max for a meet night is ideal to get out on some great roads and also have a good laugh at the stops . I had a great night [Y] Al.
chris_c201 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Sounds good, gutted i missed it.... Defo up for going for a wee run on a midweek meet!
Bing Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 yeh, some good roads and some good driving : Ally, you can fairly shift that jalpoy of yours! "Becks eh! Bit of a cider man?"
st3ph3n Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 The hoopty with the gubbed turbo does move at a fair rate considering. Did yous head back home the scenic route as well? I had to jet to sort out my weekend. I have to say that following ally slowly until you fellows all caught up after the Erskine bridge and then watching you all fly past is something I'll remember for quite some time. That and the smell of freshly toasted clutch in the evening.
Gumball Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 AllyB aka Peter "yorkshire ripper" Sutcliffe can drive, you heard it hear first[]
ally-b Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I got word back from Andy-F this morning - I'm picking up uprated turbo next week [] I'm going to get Greers to fit it for me , and I'll get my APS cold air kit fitted at the same time . Andy is going to work his magic on my map to suit these upgrades on the 20th . Then. . . . . . Mu-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaa !!! [6] BTW my handling 'mods' only consist of Powerflex droplinks , STI carbon front strut-brace and a set of Toyo T1-S tyres [] I would like us to have a wee evening run like that every month , its getting lighter at nights again . Most topics for discussion by Glasgow branch can be dealt with , and then we can go for a drive - it is what unites us individuals in the club after all ! Anyone else like that idea ? Al.
fai17 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Defo like the idea Ally. Are you coming down to see me tonight since you owe me a beer/?
ally-b Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Yes Peter , I'll see you at the 'Kwang Tung' restaurant/raceway later for my usual followed by 'brakepads' with icecream mmmmmm [] Al.
des_curran Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Ye it was a good night, i would defo be up for a wee run at the meets[] just need to get this new clutch fitted first. Ally, Glad to here your getting your turbo sorted out[]
