2559B Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Excellent vid Andy !!! The Group B car's are MENTAL !!!!! my personal favourite is the T16 ........ this is my prefered "weapon of choice" for any PS2 rallying game !!! Ally.
wilky Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 We still need to find the video of Uncle Volter at Pikes peaks. Man, that takes some beating. Callum W
dave_morgan Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Awesome! Need to dig out my 'too fast to race' video tonight - some great clips on that from pikes peak amongst others. Dave
JohnSt Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Search the Interweb for 'climbdance' and you''' find the Vid you are after, or alternatively, pm me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. ---john---
IanJ Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Did a search and can only find Ari in the pug under climbdance
JohnSt Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 "Uncle Volter at Pikes peaks" I've never seen a vid of Walter Rohl on Pikes Peak, I suspect Callums' getting his Mucking Words Fuddled up ---john---
ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 how about a little lap round Bathurst!! V8
wilky Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 John, the video was done in 1987 as promotion for audi sales in the USA after Walter took 27.9 seconds off the world record. It has 3 screen split with the road, pedal action and his gearchanges and is quite honestly astonishing. Someone rehashed it a number of years ago with the famous Audi S1 footage from portugal where Walter is hurtling along the road at 140mph and spectators are jumping out the way. They mixed that with his foot/ incar action but that isnt the true video. The foot action /in car footage etc belongs to the pikes peak video. I wish I could find it. Uncle Volter is recognised by other famous racing drivers from all motorsport as probabley the best driver that has ever lived.
JohnSt Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Ah, I've seen that video many moons ago .... didn't realise it was Pikes peak From memory the most stunning thing about it is his footwork... awsome ---john---
dan_jess Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Brilliant clip! When i first looked at the thread i thot ther was a group buy on fry-ups!
dave_morgan Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 LOL !! Now you're talking - I'm starving!!
Gee Wr1 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Great Vid Group B was the real Rally period, mind you don't know which was maddest the cars or the spectators
frank c Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Cool vid ...It's great to see the group b's again......... Always fancied going for a blast in a Group B rally car....but would probably shat my breeks.....
the squiggle Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Another awesome find there Big chap Saved to the hard drive instantly for further viewing Good to see all the old favs there and enjoyed the Tarmac spec Audi and a brief fleeting glimpse of a Citreon BX Also loved the Murphy vid round the mountain, spitting flames from a NA engine requires a healthy state of tune and to top it off Walter driving like a loon Grant
st3ph3n Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Love that lap with Murphy. Bathurst ranks second only to the ring as my favourite track in the world. You can watch some track based motorsports on the telly and know they're fast, but they don't look fast. Then you watch a V8 hustling it's way round the top of the mountain, 6 inches from concrete walls, 2 wheels off the ground, flames popping out when they liftoff. Just fantastic. And of course a bit of Walter to wash it all down with. Excellent.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 Yep the old V8's definately snap on the heels of my favouirte rallying, constant action and jockeying for position unlike most of todays track based racing. unfortunately trying to get vid clips of the V8's for downloading is like finding hens teeth.......if anyone has any then get em up.
fai17 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Awesome vids....The spectators are real CRAZY in the old days...
RS Grant Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Yea, spectators are crazy.... but the drivers arent shy, they just keep it flat stick all the way, not thinking about if a specator was to stumble!! Cheers, Grant
fai17 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Did any spectator got hurt by a car in those days m8??
RS Grant Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The RS200 had a bad accident just after it was launched... took out a group of spectators, thats what brought the end to Group B Rallying. Cheers, Grant
