fai17 Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 My list goes something like this...... 1.My dads Fiat Uno Formula in red(alright for first car that took me & my pals everywhere) 2.Vauxhall Nova 1.4SR in breeze blue.Done loads of mods to it.Lowered suspension, big whaals, big tunes,GSI body kit.and believe it or not i had it featured in Max Power November 1994. I must say i am proud of it as back then Max Power was actually a good modifed car magazine. And here is the prove but don't tell anyone. 3.VW Vento 2.0 GL in dusty mauve.Great German quality car. 4.BMW 325i E36 in montreal blue.Supersprint exhaust,Bilstine suspension, more tunes,Superchipped and tinted windows.I love this car till it got written off right outside my house due to flood damage... 5.VW Golf MK2 16V in Schwartz Black.Great car but engine was drinking oil when i bought it so i spent loads of money getting a G60 engine transplant. Was fun at the time.G60 engine sounded superb but loads of wheel spin in the wet. 6.VW Sharan 1.9 TDI Auto in silver.Family came so i bought a people carrier. My wife must have been thinking of a 5 a side team when we went to buy this.I still have this car and it has been great for doing everthing in.45mpg plus. Can't complain. 7.Mini Cooper Auto in Silver.Chilli pack.Brilliant car and cheap to run.Wife loved it and i washes it.Mini service was top class.Bought it for £12800 then traded it in for my battle ship.I got £10300 after 2 full years which meant i lost £1250 per year which is feck all in car ownership terms. And here it is. 8.Subaru Impreza WRX STI8 TypeUK in WR Blue(the best and fastest colour).I have been wanting one of these for a long time.Since i am now thirty something i can actually afford to insure one.Yous probably know what i have done to my battle ship and if yous don't i'm not going to tell.Since buying the car i have joined SIDC.It has been great here meeting new friends and sharing info.I can probably go on and on but i'm not as its getting late.Looking at my posting time. And here is a few shots of my Scoob. I am still very happy with my car now all the mods is complete. Thanks all for the advice

gus the bus Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 Some excellent lists here folks! Peter, I think I met you a couple of times @ KAS in Falkirk and remember your Photoshoot in Max Power. Might still even have that copy hiding away somewhere As you said, thats when MP was a good modding magazine OR am I just getting old??? Andy I remember your wee Cinquecento and your Pug!!! ooot n about in WL. Gus

Astra 1.8 SRi (nice car altho nothing special) Mazda RX8 231ps (lovely car, bit thirsty tho!) And now a Bugeye WRX, standard altho not for long!
oobster Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 << Andy I remember your wee Cinquecento and your Pug!!! ooot n about in WL. >> Aye, the wee cinq got some stares..... my mate has seen it a couple of times in edinburgh, still looks the same minus the tints. I also remembered this the other day too: the Cinq went back to the dealers 16 (yes, 16!!) times to have valves replaced in the engine. AND my ex-fiance reversed into a fence, which required a new rear bumper + off-side light cluster to put right. Then she managed to kerb both near-side wheels (plus wrecked one tyre) while adjusting the interior mirror driving past bangour hospital. Once i'd replaced both wheels + the tyre, she done the same again & managed to wreck another alloy!! The guy in the parts department @ Fiat once asked if i'd like him to keep a couple of alloys in stock for me @ the dealers instead of having to order them in from the central warehouse.
scoobykev Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 started at aged 8 with a Fiat 500L, was a christmas present, broke it so got another one, broke it too so went jap and bought a datsun 100A. road legal, onto: mk3 escort 1.3L '83 cavalier sri '88 astra gte '88 sapphire cossie '94 celica gt '98 volvo v40td '98 uk turbo impreza, current. plus several cavaliers, escorts and astras for work.
st3ph3n Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 You don't seem to have the best of luck with Alloys oobster. I went through 5 sets of Gas lifters on the civic's hatchback as I kept telling the garage they were rattling. Turned out it was the parcel shelf fitting + lots of bass. Whoops. The civic is the only car I've had an accident with, but it wasn't my fault. A bus turning left ran a red light. The backend swung out and collected my car which was stopped at the junction. Rear bumper and every panel on the passenger side was completely wrecked. About a square foot of the bus was actually wedged into the gap between the door and the rear panel. You get some tremendous looks driving home with a car so badly damaged though.

sharon_mccall Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Gus - i see you also owned an Opel Ascona. I had mine lowered and it was brilliant in the wet, especially on roundabouts. Did you like yours?
gus the bus Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 Oh yes! I had the i200 wide body "rally kit" fitted too. Looked the dogs danglies One of these days I'm gonna add up the cost of all my cars (and their mods!) and see what I have actually spent on cars over the years! I think I might even shock myself Gus
fai17 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Gus:I still got my copy of Max Power stashed away

It was red, and he regretted selling it within 2 mins of the buyer driving off in it.
