st3ph3n Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I was sure that Grant was trying to get it sideways out the hairpin. I was too I found the best way was to line it up for a late apex (is there anything other than a late apex on that corner?) right over the kerbs on the inside and then just nail it. I think I got it fairly sideways before it lined itself back up when the AWD got it's act together. I only got to follow Grant closely in the wet over 2 laps before I tried to find myself some space on the track. I did see him in the dry and he was certainly moving at pace, but it was off in the distance.
JamesF Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Hi Dipsy, that was actually my son Lewis (out on loan). How cool did he look. He's only 7 1/2 months but loves cars already, got him glued to the TV when the rallying, F1 and Touring Cars is on. The next McRae in the making !!! (Hopefully he can take me into an early retirement )
evobaz Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Gumball, my PM is now switched on and I've tried to send you a PM. Baz
the squiggle Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 << You were a bit slow round the corners in the wet though as I could catch you quite nicely round the back end of the circuit. What good is power without control? >> I have sh*tty std 2 pots on the front with Avon ZZ1's, tyres which could not even supply enough grip in the rain to turn over the engine. Todays exercise was to mainly keep it nice , smooth and on the great stuff with lashings of Creamed Rice and oversteer at the hairpin. When it dried up a bit and a good line appeared then it was all systems go for DHL delivery driver mode Control is nothing without power Grant
Gumball Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 << Control is nothing without power >> i dont have either
st3ph3n Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Self control and the will power to stay off the track?
Gumball Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 no. watching the fast cars go round and round was harder than trying to stay off the fags. nae chance. made a donation to santa cruise and spun about in the wet for 30 mins, great fun
weeb Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 brilliant day!! done laps with grant, peter and jaqui. brillaint all threee has slipeee moments, grant was like a kid with a new toy with the drifting out of the hair pin. Peter loved it when his scoob got sideways round the back of the track and jaqui was brilliant, sideways going wrong!!! he he. I enjoyed the days lots, loads of nice cars and the driving from these 3 people was brilliant, 1st class even with the wet and slippy conditions!! Gordy i hope you are ok after your escapades on the way up to the track!!

pedals Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Hi everyone, had a great day out at knockhill yesterday Thanks to Peter for the pax lap - great fun! Good to see everyone again and meet a few new people. cheers pedals
RS Grant Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Great Day!! Thankyou to Kenny for taking me out in his quick blue Classic for a few laps, those 335mm disks are a huge improvement over the standard set-up mate!! Also, many thanks for Peter (fai17) for taking me out in the GEMS STi8.. Good bit of banter mate, and a well set-up package. The downside to the pax laps I got is that I'm now dying for the next Track Day to be organised, so I can get the Celica on there and have some fun myself, although I'll try to keep my GT4 on the track, which Nylo (Red Celica on White MO's) seemed to have trouble with yesterday!! Hehehe... Cheers, Grant
duke Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 "if you dont spin...you aint trying hard enough" and like my lancer the gt4 can pirouette gracefully too lookin forward to the next one and think i'll get some proper track tyres on wheels that fit (as calipers were too big)... hopefully see your gt4 there too for some fun
Kenny_McGee Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 << Thankyou to Kenny for taking me out in his quick blue Classic for a few laps, those 335mm disks are a huge improvement over the standard set-up mate!! Cheers, Grant >> No worries matey - glad you enjoyed it - and I'm looking forward to seeing your monster on track. Cheers Kenny

st3ph3n Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 << Good pictures and a great day out pitty about the weather though. >> !!!! The weather was great! I was humping Elises and Caterhams left right and centre when the skies openned and dampenned the track for the last 30 minutes. I did 2 elises and a Caterham on the one lap!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Sideways was the word of the day !! Fisrt of theanks to JohnS - a true credit to the club with excellent organisational commitment once again.... Thanks also to WheelsAround - lovin' my 4 new Toyo T1-R in the wet I have some video footage but having grief with my site at the moment so please be patient as I'm also in Holland this week. Loved it when it dried up but still enjoyed the wet ( the baldy RE070's denied me my usual confidence though ) I believe I got sideways ( alneit pretty minor) at the hairpin but deffo got some lateral action at Clarke's I cannot get enough of these track days. they are so hectic though so I'd welcome the all-day one so we can have more chat, eating, cooling down time, less red flags etc etc.... Thanks to all for the photos - they are MEGA Rgds Cal
