Racing Snake Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Thinking about my next mod. How much difference do these babies make? Iwas looking at the Whiteline HD Links anyone got any thoughts/info? Cheers Karl
dougster Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I got my MRT/Whiteline droplinks years ago (direct from Australia) and are one of the best modifications IMHO. They took about 6 weeks on the boat though!!
Gumball Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 whiteline £35 ish powerflex £65 ish whats the difference? not much. make a good difference to the handling though. A valuable modification i would say
Racing Snake Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Think I'll go for the Whiteline £58 ish from Demon Tweeks havent seen them any cheaper than that cheers
oobster Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Karl I'd appreciate it greatly if you let me know how you get on with the whiteline droplinks (are you getting the front AND back done?) as this is on my list of mods awaiting budget approval! I also have a 2003 WRX. Cheers Andy
wrxmania Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Andy, I have had the back Whitelines on mine for quite a while now - worth fitting - the car is more tail happy... There was a good guide on scabby-net a while ago and on the whiteline website it has guides to what difference it makes to the cars and what you should fit. For non-track use, they seemed to recommend the rears only, from all of my researcg. The fronts and anti-lift kit will add a bit more "liveliness" into your driving!! Brian
Racing Snake Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 I'm just going to try the rear for now and see what difference it makes; they are easy to fit so should'nt be a problem. Will be doing the mod early July waiting for pay day! Will let you know how I get on. Karl
dipsy Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Hello racing snake .I phoned demon tweeks about droplinks they dont stock .They buy them in and it takes two weeks or more .AWD have them because ordered them .I phoned to day i am getting the steel ones front and rear fitted. You could try Job Gevers telphone 01383 -820820 hes whiteline agent for the uk
MY94 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I've just got back from AWD in Perth after having my rears fitted with whiteline drop links. They fitted front ones for me last year and totally sorted out the problems I was having with understeer then, due to the front drops being totally shot originals from ten years ago. My was MOT due this week and the rears have been needing done for a while.......so whiteline all round. I found the rears alot of fun on the way home I'd also add that Whiteline are quite hard to get a hold of in terms of a 6-8 weeks wait...........but Grant ordered in quite alot of Whiteline stock,so now would be a good time to call AWD if you don't want to wait. Also,I would say that putting them on the front is a must,I'd probably put them on the front first ,then the rears if on a budget.............IMO. Anyways, get them, should be the first mod u do to this car ,again,IMO. Enjoy
sma01 Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 have spoken to a couple of people about this, and although the majority vote goes to whiteline, he reckons that the best available are powerflex, however as with most things, this is just an opinion.... Scott
Gumball Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 personally i would get the whitelines for 30 odd quid if i wasnt buying the powerflexs. but if you want to pay 65..........................LOL demon tweeks charge 65? hypertech in bonnynridge must have given me them half price then
imprezapete Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 These are on my to do list next month, where can I get the Whitelines from locally? and for what price?
teknopete Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Karl, I fitted the full whiteline setup (front and back droplinks and antilift / antidive kit) to Big red about 4 or 5 years ago and would recommend it to anyone with a scoob. Makes a tremendous difference to handling IMHO. Does away with the 2 stage damping (sloppyness) that comes into play with the standard plastic rear droplinks when driving the car on the edge The car feels more comfortable when on its limits. Have to push harder before it breaks out at the back. Fitting order I normally recommend is : Rears / Anti lift / fronts Pete
jasonb Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Thats it i am getting me some drop links cos they sound great
IanJ Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 My fronts are knackered so i'm doing all round. These guys seem reasonably priced. Has anyone dealt with them?
frank c Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I ordered my Droplinks from demon tweeks last weekend (whiteline -alloy) and they arrived today Can't wait to put them on.... Frank..
JamesF Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 count me in, thinking about a drive through to Perth on Saturday to buy the rear drop links. note to self: stop modding.
