I adore my scooby so much, love the thrill of driving it, but i just cant get into the rally thing thing whatsoever. I follow formula one avidly but this rally thing just does not work for me, please tell me what i am missing!!!!!

excitement

get dirty viewing

constantly changing race positions

more interesting competitors

better scenery + venues

differing road conditions

and the main one.....................more skilled drivers!!!!!!!! (all IMHO)

Easier to drive round and round the same bit of tar all day than it is to drive blind on changing terrain all the time.

No Safety car or paramedics on hand at the drop of a hat like F1

........................Sorry........im a rally fan

get yourself to a closed road tarmac rally......

preferably in ireland....

more wrc cars in ireland than there is in the flippin wrc....

stand back and admire....

challenge you not to be impressed....

been following rallying since i was 9....

miss irish rallying since i moved here...........

its my only passion in life (after cheryl from girls aloud of course)

f1 is just so boring................yaaaawwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnn

Rallying EVERY time - almost the only thing I ever watch on he tele...

Formula one is the viewing equivalent of Polo as far as I am concerned face-icon-small-sad.gif I'd almost rather watch football or even GOLF !

I don't think the wrc gets the TV coverage it deserves.

Love those in-car shots of the cars doing 100mph+ on the narowest of roads

Never miss an F1 race though!

Watch the Irish rally championship on sky when it starts far far better than the world rally championship. They mostly run scoobies and mk2 rear wheel drive escorts. The presenter's not very good looking though.face-icon-small-smile.gif

I think you have just hit the nail on the head, rallying does not get much time on air and i have never been to a rally, f1 does a great marketing job and gets every race covered, i can only imagine how a rally would be to watch, maybe i should get myself to one, thank you all for your input

With 2 quality rallies in Dumfries that is a shame, The Scottish is based in Dumfries and uses Ae forest. The Galloway Hills is based in Castle Douglas, this event usually attracts a few Irish lads across. I also highly recommend the Jim Clark Rally in Duns for some awesome Tarmac action.

The only bit i like on F1 is the start where the all pile into the first corner, with pile being the operative word.

Diehard WRC fan till the day i die, with Rally Deutschland pretty high up the list for action.

Rally every time as after the 22nd lap with shumacher in the lead from lap 2 its the reason they are usually on a sunday. So basically am saying its the modern version of the sunday matinee. Im tired already.lmfao.face-icon-small-wink.gifface-icon-small-tongue.gif

jambo scooby,

there's nothing like being at a rally.

you dont feel the pops, bangs, hisses, smell and rush of wind when the cars fly past you even if you watch the poor tv coverage.

I'm a bit of a rally fan too.

like squirrel said, there are a few good rallies happening in scotland, but a picture says a thousand words........

we need to get you along when we go spectating, your choice..... tarmac or gravel?

tarmac

I had a friend who was at the Malcolm Wilson rally last week(spectating) in Cockermouth ( love that name) last week and he had to get out of the way pretty sharpish as a car lost control, he is a big boy as well which was just as well for the focus that lost control, god only knows how much damage he would have caused to that ford if it hit him head on, for the record i believe Malcolm Wilsons son won the race, i disagree with you guys however about formula 1 being boring, i have driven a f1 car and the things we take for granted in our scooby's just dont equate behind a car that is pulling over 800 bhp,the acceleration is truly unbelievable, add some rain and its downright crazy, anyway each to their own , i believe this years f1 championship will make compulsive viewing

Get yourself to the Jim Clark, I didn't really get all the fuss until last year when I attended my first one. IT WAS FANTASTIC.!!!!face-icon-small-smile.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

Being so close, jumping in your car from stage to stage. Talking cr@p with other spectators and drivers? Being able to touch the cars.

The list is endless, just do it once and you will be hooked.

As for F1 I gotta disagree I just can't watch it, motorbikes and rally cars only for me.

That pic of the water splash isface-icon-small-cool.gif I live about half a mile from it & often do that stage in the Scooby when I get boredface-icon-small-wink.gif Would agree that rallying is a more exciting sport altho I do feel that the F1 seriesd will be slightly different this year. Its all motorsport at the end of the day, cant beat it!face-icon-small-happy.gif
