johnmacdonald
I know that it's been a bit damp of late, but for the first time of owning the WRX since 2006, yesterday I found the spare wheel well with sufficient water in it to support a couple of goldfish or a small duck! My OZ Racing full size spare half submerged. Water appears to have entered driver's side at rear of boot (mat soaked only in that area), but I can't see how or where. Any ideas please? mctwistuk
Maybe through spoiler holes? Link to comment
ScoobieFloz
I am suffering the same issue, or atleast the Scoob is. I haven't checked this pearl of wisdom but I was advised to check for leaks around the rear lights. Link to comment
davey l wrx
It's usually either the bolts for the spoiler, the boot sealer the rear lights! Link to comment
thebigfelly
Heard lots with spoiler holes or rear lights being the culprit Link to comment
johnmacdonald
Very many thanks to all. I will investigate - spoiler bolts sound promising, especially as my spoiler is mounted on pods! John Link to comment
scottishtaffy
i would say its more than likely to be the rear lights. the water runs down the boot channel onto the top of the rear light cluster and then seeps in thru the seal round the top. hope you get it sorted tho Link to comment
davey l wrx
I've had it with the blobeye - spoiler bolts, sorted with bathroom sealant. And the hawkeye - boot seal, sorted with bathroom sealant. Link to comment
ccrien
Mine leaked through the 2bolts that hold the bumper on, just under the carpet behind the spare wheel on the back panel, just needed nipping up. Link to comment
johnmacdonald
Being fairly confident that the spoiler holes were to blame, last weekend I tried the suggestion of sealing under the Zero carbon pods with bathroom mastic. However due to a heavy frost followed by rain, rain and more rain, it didn't have a chance to set and I was left with liquid mastic down the boot and bumper. Having completely removed the spoiler and pods this morning, I believe that water has ingressed via the right hand side spoiler brake light cable hole. Consequently, I have made two gaskets from 1.5mm neoprene and will refit the spoiler tomorrow. Will advise whether successful or otherwise. If not, will consider a waste outlet from the spare wheel well!! Link to comment

Here they are (hopefully). The pods are by Zerosports, but don't know if they are still available. John Link to comment
johnmacdonald
Further to my post on 24th January, early days perhaps, but after quite heavy rain yesterday, boot appears to be completely dry. Hopefully, my carefully cut neoprene gaskets have done the job! Cost £4.60 with free postage from Amazon. Hope this helps other members with similar problems. 1 Link to comment
