I think the online petition is a great idea and will certainly make Tynwald aware of public disquiet.

Great idea Nick and a big thank you to Frankie for helping out. >>

Just point me to it and tell me where to sign!

Still, I can barely break the 60mph barrier at the moment anyway and by the time I get the car fixed everyone else will probably be driving around in 'hovercars' or something anyway!face-icon-small-blush.gif

Any update on this guys?

I really don't see the point in a speed limit face-icon-small-sad.gif

I mean how fast d'ya reckon the average car drives on the motorway in England?* It hardly stops people going above 70..

*excluding traffic jams

Just been notified that the domain has been approved. Just setting up the DNS now. Neil and Frankie, the domain is nolimit.org.im (what a job I had trying to get that!!). The DNS should take about 24 hours to propogate so I will put an under construction banner on it until we get some content sorted out.

Great stuf, Nick.

Frankie and I will get the content sorted for you then.

Then a bit of free publicity and we'll see what John Shimmin MHK has to say about that.

PS: Getting back on topic, if anyone wants to know what the police were doing on the Mountain Road with a speed gun I can tell you.

I asked a traffic cop today and he showed me a new laser gun they've bought and officers have been testing it out.

He said from time to time you will see officers with speed guns in destricted zones to check the speeds of commerical vehicles, such as HGV and lorries which are subject to speed restrictions by their size and weight.

PPS: The new laser gun is very light, very accurate, and can pin-point individual cars in a line of traffic.

I think I'll hold onto the Manx reg plates for as long as possible once I'm in Manchester.

Wonder how the DVLA will find '4 816 MAN' on the UK records! Lol

PS: The officer I spoke to said the recipricol agreement with the UK as far as motoring legislation is concerned is done and dusted at this end, but the UK side is slowing things down.

There will be lots of changes from November 1 though!

Yep, Just want to test it out a little first. More than likely get pissed tonight though and tell the world about it face-icon-small-blush.gif

Hopefully Neil will sort a bit of paper publicity for it and I know a forum where Stuart Peters (Manx Radio) lurks face-icon-small-wink.gif

<< .A "national" speed limit would kill the island, stop it in its tracks............it is a major player in the tourisim stakes >>

Do you think that's the hidden agenda..............after all there are an awful lot of rich people on the Island who don't depend on tourism and don't relish "their" island being overrun by "plebs" in fast cars and on motorbikes every year!face-icon-small-wink.gif
