C_WRX Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Needing new wiper blades for the two cars. Went with areoblades the last time and they've been fine. Where's the best place to buy them? Got them from dealer last time at an okay price but am sure there's cheaper places out there. Are aeroblades the best to go for ?
JasonW Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 How much were they last time? Do they clear rain from the windscreen? If so, is there really a lot of difference between the brands?
corsa Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) Discuss !!! If you were happy with the last ones then buy them again. Really simple.;-) Edited November 29, 2010 by corsa
euan_r Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 ive got fairly new bosch ones on the impreza but found they built up with ice and subsequently stopped being effective. Heating was on full blast on windscreen but couldnt keep up, not ideal in blizzard. Are silicon ones or that less prone to this?
C_WRX Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) "Best place to buy" ??? "Is there anything better" ? Always better to do homework before buying I feel. Is there something better than the aeroblades, or just as good as but not as expensive - now that's simple surely. Had wipers before that I found streaky, noisy and didn't last long. Really would like to try avoid that. Think they were about £30 last time. Bosch wasn't to be considered, bought few years back and unimpressed. Edited November 29, 2010 by C_WRX
corsa Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 i got a set from the dealers no complaints around the thirty quid mark if i remember.

14N-FR Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I ordered from My link and bought the Bosch ones. In my opinion it is worth buying decent blades as the cheap ones I have bought in the past do not last long.
Dougs Scoob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 You can get either michelin or goodyear aeroblades in costco's for a tenner a blade. Havent tried them though so cant comment if they are any good. Anyone tried them?
jamesm Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I got a set from the dealers a while back. Might have been in a Subaru box but they had Bosch written on them. The exact same blades in a Bosch box are cheaper! Avoid cheap versions though, useless.
maddogsx Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Slightly off-topic, I use screenwash from Lidl or Aldi (not sure which) and it's never frozen up on me, even if screen is hard ice covered, a scoot from the washer bottle clears it instantly, last year on way to the Snowman Rally, we went across Rannoch moor the temp gauge showed -13 and even with the windchill factor they still never froze. It's only a £5 or so for 5 litre bottle and wsell worth every penny.

Not tried any other aero blades though, so just a "great" compared to normal worn wipers.
