Is this a good swap?

Hi Guys and Gals,

As some of you may know I have been trying to get back into a Subaru for some time - without much success I have to say so far!!! I have put my Audi A6 Avant for sale, or for a part ex and have had one guy come back to me with a straight swap deal. I think altough it's a wee bit cheaper than mine I am thinking it's not too bad a deal.

Can you all have a little look and tell me your thoughts.

Cheers for the hints fella, I am torn between keeping the Audi as the wife is pregnant and due in April - but so want to get back into a Scoob, after 10 years of ownership, the last year or so has been a tough 42mpg - I don't need that kind of luxury anymore.

I can't remember what rs grants was like - any pics???

Cheers

I don't think it's a good swap at all. That car is not worth 10 grand.

Mentions a few mods (including de-cat and induction kit) but no mention of mapping?

Why new clutch at 35k? Why timing belt at 35k?

As has been mentioned it's the old style centre console/heater controls e.t.c.

Registered as Type-UK?? I've never had a JDM so not sure how the registration goes down, but that seems strange. If it's registered as a Type-UK then does it endure expensive road tax, whereas JDM wouldn't?

Even by his own admission "MINOR DINTS AND SCRATCHES"

I could be wrong of course, but seems like an unknown quantity and I think there are better for cheaper. A lot cheaper.

Cheers.

depends how long you want to keep it,id say its probably a good deal with a grand your way

as said its not an 05 model year which does have better features but it does look pretty clean and it is low mileage - timing belt is because its 5 years old, clutch, remap and why its registered as a type uk are concerns though

Hi All,

I have a funny feeling I know where this one is going - nowhere fast!!!! If anyone knows anyone with a decent car, that would like a part ex or swap deal please let them know my situation and send them my way.

Cheers

I wouldn't do a straight swap for that. My car was a newer Hawkeye with way more mods and more power and it went for a fair bit under the price he's asking. Love the look of your car, its a stunner.

Mapping, low mileage, your high mileage, mods, DCCD, blah aside.............

Whats the book price for a low milage 2005 JDM?

Whats the book price for a higher milage 2006 Audi?

Why dont you sell yours for a ford fiesta/focus baby carrier + buy a classic off pistonheads?

I know what i would do- just swap it and enjoy the new car lol

That's the sort of reckless abandon that caused me to spend/lose fortunes on my car; I LIKE it! lol!

LOL

Since 2008 I must have burnt about 15k in negative equity over different cars

its part of the journey and if i could straight swap a car i dont owe finance on, for a new Impreza, I would probably do it.

The worst that can happen? you dont like it and sell it on

Import Car tax is a minefield my Skyline R33 imported in 2006 tax is 420 a year and renewal has no 6 months box

Vehicle tax

Vehicle tax will be payable in line with the vehicle’s first registration date in the UK. If the vehicle has been previously registered abroad, the date it's first registered in the UK will determine the amount of vehicle tax that’s payable. DVLA will also allocate a vehicle registration number appropriate to the vehicle’s first registration abroad.
