badbaz Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 cheers folks, realy dont wana get rid of it like, just hope seeing how its had major engine work done to it i shouldnt have to worry , because going by the logs and reciets in the book, the engine was taken out previously had new belts/ filters and liquids all replaced head gasket the lot cost the last guy £1700 and that was just a cpl thousand miles before i got it and majority of its services and mots were done by a subaru garage all except 2, and now with new wireing / wireing harness /loom thats been put in since ive had it im hoping thats it sorted and this is just a little hic up, cause when i got going and got it up to the 30mph - 40mph in 3rd and 4th gear there was a strange sound that i wasnt used to coming from the rear left side over my shoulder which made me think sumthing with the exhaust and thats what has caused the engine management light to go on maybe a sensor or sumthing had broke which caused the fuel not to burn right which caused the strange sound and the light to come back on.... not mechanicly minded but know the odd bit and bob but prety basic stuff, and usualy know if sumthing isnt sounding right or not . as for warrenty i paid an extra £400 bucks for an extra 2 years warrenty on top of the usual basic three months when i got the car also wish i got the years service cover but didnt know they done that aswel , though their warrenty cover seem fcuked up cause you look at the excluded items and nearly all the parts of the car are excluded except the wing mirrors, so think il get them to explain exactly what will be covered with this extra warrenty when i next go back in . il find out today when it goes up to nobles and they put it on diagnostic again for the 3rd time. and il get a phone call later on today, realy gutted missed all these shows and meets, missed the shows up at knockhill , was hoping to get along to the bridge of allen classic car one got my name down for it wana put faces to the names and to all that have helped aswel, see the other cars but cant say il defo have the ca back by then depending what they find and if they need to order new parts again... only thing thats take the advice above and reject it there are tons more out there and better than what you have just now I know it seems like you'd never get another - you would
craigdmcd Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Got to agree with Baz on this one. Or find the last owner (do you have the log-book?) and find out exactly what had been done to it. If it has had that amount of work done to it, then it doesn't seem to have had the easiest of lives.
Ovv Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Totally feel for you mate, sounds like they have mucked you about big style. I think your best bet would be to return it and get your money back. At least you have this option available to you, get the cash back and walk away, a little bit of patience often plays into these things and there is probably something better out there that isnt going to give you a lot of grief. Whilst there might not be an STI in your price range, Im sure there are a few nice WRX models out there with some choice mods that you could pick up for that sort of money. Just my 2p's worth, Cheers Chris.
stevie 4 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 totally feel for you but i would have no confidence in this car i would give it back and get my money back mate.if they are right and there has been some monkey messing about with it who knows what else has been mucked up.
gordi82 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Hand your car back and buy the one you have asked about in the for sale section looks like a belter
thebigfelly Posted June 11, 2010 Author Posted June 11, 2010 cheers , well i will wait to see when i get it back see how it runs , and technicaly i shld still have that 30day ownership thing to get my cash back seeing how they have had it since i got it , so if anything fecks up in the 30 days then il just say i want my cash back and the money for the extra 2 year warrenty

Having worked in the motor trade for over 10 years now I know that handing a car back is not that easy. Make sure the letter gives you the choice and not only an option to hand back if the same fault comes back. I would still not be taking the car back. It's your hard earned money thats in it.

thefastone Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Yeah weird on about the board layout there, it did that to me a while ago, no rhyme or reason... I'm seeing a growing trend in the board replies here... and I'd be very careful dealing with this garage mate, as I think that Gordi has a very good point there, they dont seem to have cared about messing you about up until now, and you have to remember that they only care about one thing, and that's the money that they have robbed off of you... I know what your saying about you should have that warranty, its a nice thought, but I'll be willing to bet you, that once your 3 months are up, (Warranty on used cars by law) they will turn round and tell you that its too late to give it back, then you'll be stuck with it... They are not going to extend what they are forced to give you by law, because lets face it, they already have your money... 7-8k is a lot of money to throw down the pan... But then if that end's up being the position that you end up in, then perhaps you'll get somewhere with Trading standards, or that ombudsman that Gus mentioned before, but its entirely possible that they will land on the side of the dealer and tell you that you had 3 months to give up on it, why didn't you do it before... Hope that it doesn't come to that, but there is always something better out there...

kennyuk300 Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Have read this post through today and i feel for you mate,i think that they are taking the proverbial.Maybe as mentioned by the previous posters it would be better to cut and run, again it has been said that there are other cars out there. Hope you get it all sorted mate without any more aggro Kenny

thebigfelly Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 more of an update now. turns out the previous a-pipe modded all the wireing, and although nobles changed teh affected wireing loom/harness cant mind which ,a nd replaced with new wires, they found out after second diagnostic that another four points in the wireing was knackered aswel, tehy said the guy who done all the modding before i got her used normal STI wiring, and not WRX STI wireing ,, didnt know there was a difference to be honest , or that it would affect it . so nobles are looking into seeing if its worth while fixing . heres what the guy from evans halshaw down at porty emailed me to sudjest From: "..................." @evanshalshaw.com> Date: Wed, 16 Jun 2010 13:17:55 +0100 To: < Subject: Possible ideas?? andrew_forrest Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Hi Paul, didn't realise this was your car !! If/when you get it back, bring it down and I will check it out for you. Nobles can check fault codes but will not be able to tell if its been mapped at some point in the past. I can give you a report on its condition with regard to engine/ECU/tuning which may be handy if you want to give it back. Andy

Andy cheers andy , apreciate the offer like, waiting to see what they say about it, if its worth while getting the repairs done or just leaving it, they were meant to phone evans halshaw the day but they didnt as paul from evans halshaw said , so wating on a phonecall tomorow to see what happens, he usualy phones the missus but dunno if shel be to happy cause ive just dropped her off up town and she likes a lie in after a drink lol but already started looking for another scoob just incase its not fixable, babs wants to get sumthing sensible astra, fiesta, corsa but i said i want the scoob , struggling to find anything tho in the price range , especialy in scotland ,seem to be alot cheeper down south . except from manse veihicle managemeant in fife, but alot of their stuff is jap imoprt from what i could see. will let you know though what happens and if im just tellin them to keep it or not, dont want to because ive always wanted a scoob since i was 16, but also dont want it playing at the back of my mind that theres another dodgy mod been done somewhere and taken out that hasnt registered a fault yet or broke and that im gona pay for it bigstyle further down the line . Edited June 16, 2010 by thebigfelly
thebigfelly Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 (edited) waiting on phonecall from nobles on what they think , their gona have somebody working through weekend and a few hours on monday checking it over , just incase i do hand it back , ive been shopping around for a new one , saw this wondered if any of you recognise it or have any input. looks nice enough, , and if you see the pic of the inside the car someones put the gauges in on the dash board, tho to be honest im not too fussed if they are there or not , looks in decent knick too for the price but should i be wary ??????? l http://caldermotor.co.uk/cgi-bin/details.pl?v_vin=GK02TZT just no to sure incase i do give mine back and get the cash and go for this as i dont wana get stung again with something that looks good but is a shed and dnt wana be paying a fortune on geting things seen to or fixed that i cant affoard especialy when any spare cash i have would be going to pay for this , and atleast with the shed that i have the now evans halshaw are paying for all the new parts , fixes and labour so its not costing me anything , but with that itd be out of my own pocket.anything i shld look out for when buying? it seems to be modded but not sure what i should or shouldnt check if i go to see it /buy it , but its got everything i want for around teh £7k mark wrx sti type uk 2002/2003 proper bodykit , though not to fussed about mods, and it has the gold alloys and proper sti spoiler and boonet scoop size, and its in blue which is what i also want , Edited June 19, 2010 by thebigfelly
G.Mac Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1711407.htm in Stirling too
Spaceman Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 i think calder want to much for that bug, it does look tidy though. i pearsonally would not buy a car from them though only ever really heard bad things bout them.
thebigfelly Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 cheers gmac, thats a good looking scoob , and thanks for the info spaceman , few people have now said that about not buying from them.. update of the car in the garage - the tappets on engine are not working properly and nobles said £1200 to fix, evans halshaw in portobello is waiting for authorisation from rotheram evanshalshaw to get the work done, having trouble getting the dealership manager at moment, but not to sure if he will ok the work because im thinking theyve already made a prety hefty loss on the car with parts and labour fixing it, if they do get the go ahead i dunno how long it will take to get the parts and fix it, so dunno if i will make the meet on the 29th or the classic car show at bridge of allen on the 4th , but im hoping i will, im peed of at missing out on all these events , and im choking to get to my very first event .
Spaceman Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 i rekon there going to try find you another car or go for refund.
thebigfelly Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 i rekon there going to try find you another car or go for refund. yeah service advisor from porty thinks the same , he said he doubts they will want to go ahead and pay for the work, not knowing what else could be wrong , and that the rotheram dealership even phoned nobles themselves to see what they think . will be a bit pissd if they do, have to say though the one that ggmac has sudgested in stirling looks good too, and in my price range if i do get a refund, only thing is the 4 previous owners, and i wont be protected if the car goes tits up when i get it, id have to pay for everything mmyself and thats money i dont have ,
