davey l wrx Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Ok guys simple question. Since i bought the scooby (04 Blobeye,WRX, UK car) it's always been filled with BP Ultimate, Shell V-Power or Tesco Super. Here's the question..... With fuel costs going up again can i put normal Unleaded in the tank. I know it'll have an impact on performance but will the car run ok on it. I know JDM cars need to run on 'Super' but my understanding is UK cars will work fine on standard fuel, i've just put the good stuff in cos it give you a little bit more. Cheers in advance.

A standard UK WRX will run fine on 95 RON.
john_mchutchison Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 HAd an 03WRX and ran on 95 ron no probs, didnt notice any difference in power when i tried vpower
davey l wrx Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Cheers guys might save me a few quid.... Local Shell garage usually has 95 for 12p a litre cheaper than V-Power...
Scooby Wagon Addict Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Agree with Rig-Pig .. Was once speaking to Mike Wood of Prodrive a few years ago and he said I should always run my car (WRX with PPP at that time) on 98+ ron due to det problems and it retarding.. And to add to that my current WRX (non-PPP) has just had an engine rebuild at the dealership , and been told to run it in gently and only use the likes of V-Power/ Tesco Super Steve
davey l wrx Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Cheers guys the cars standard so there shouldn't be any problems and i'll still give it a tank full of v-power/Ultimate once a month just for the hell of it. i'll give some 95 a go and see how she runs.
bobbyc Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 My first three scoobs were only ever run on normal unleaded & never coughed 2 x classic turbos & blob sti & I still maintain they actually drove & handled just as well and as fast as the cars that I have spent mucho spondulies modding, I have to ask myself the question is modding really worth it
killbill Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 will be fine m8 my uk turbo classic wagon ran worse when i tried tesco 99 lol straight back on the morrisons 95
lewisscoob Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 It should be able to run no bother on 95. I think thats some sort of a requirement, no? I used to run my V6 4mo golf on super and after putting a tank of 95 in it, It never ran worth a ****. I have always stuck to V-power since (on 2xScoobs) I get points back with the shell card too.
Scooby1Kanobe Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) Anybody know if mine would be ok on normal '95' unleaded ?? Its not a UK model, I believe it is a Euro model, imported from Malta. edit (P.S. - It is a standard WRX not an STi) Edited April 9, 2010 by Scooby1Kanobe
neilswrx Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 as above mine is standard sti 06 not ppp have asked this before and told not to use anything but superunleaded had a classic jap import wrx as well that ran ok on normal but was mapped then had to use as per andy f,s insts to use only v power if the car is not rubn on trackday and hammered will it be ok to run on normal unleaded pos with octane booster as 127 a litre is piracy cheers
