£50k for an Impreza... I know its limited edition, but, jesus christ thats GTR territory!!

Cheers,

Grant

Yup  when i read only 75 would be made i thought they would go like hotcakes, probably still will thought but i cant justify that kind of money. £39,000 tops :)

The 22B type UK were sold for £45K! That would probably translate to over £50K in today's money! Sure there were only 16 UK 22B's but still 400 in total and the imports were fetching similar money!

Weather the Cosworth scooby will be as legendary as the 22B remains to be seen, but there is a good chance with the Cosworth name and the very limited numbers that this car could be a very valuable collectors item!

True but the 22B came along when the Impreza was iconic... and every petrol head, rich or poor, wanted a piece of the action. Unfortunately times have changed and the status of the Impreza has dropped from that level.

That said, with only 75 being made, its got to be one of the most limited edition cars produced.. which should keep residuals/status high.

Cheers,

Grant

I've got to say I was hoping for more. Performance that is not price.

12.75 quarter mile is a joke when a standard type r (mine) can do it in 12.9 and can be bought for £5k.

I think they've missed a trick on this one. £50k would be fine if they'd stuck to what cosworth do best - fast. Bin the fancy leather, grills and interior. In fact take out the radio, aircon and sound deadening and use the money to make it go like a cossie should.

Bear in mind that the R has a short ratio Jap Box only designed to reach 112mph, while the cossie will be geared to at least 155mph, probably higher!

that must have been many moons ago Colin? Back in the days when folks didn't need to steal Vpower as it was readily available :)

I thought the figures were a bit pants too - missed chance as you say!

The price isn't that much more than I was expecting.

Take a standard STi, which is about £27k new.

Add:

Cosworth bottom end rebuild including high quality components - cost approx £3k - £4k including labour?

Uprated Clutch, new turbo, Exhaust and ECU remap - £2k - £2.5k

New leather interior plus other bits: About £2k

355mm AP Brakes about £2k

Fog Lights, lip spoiler, grilles etc, privacy glass etc probably not far short of £750

Bilstien suspension - probably close to £2k, possibly more

Lightweight 18 inch wheels and tyres, assume about £1.5 - £2k

3 year warranty - probably worth about £2k

At the top end of the estimates, that's about £17k on top of the standard car.

Then you have to figure in the development and testing costs (including European Type Approval ?) - many months would have gone into the testing, development and fine tuning (particularly the suspension), and divide this amongst a production run of only 75 cars. That could easily add up to another £3 - £5k per car. Remember the car will need to pass strict emissions and noise regulations so owners won't have problems come MOT time, or if they are ever stopped by police etc.

Add in a bit of profit and an allowance for marketing materials and you're probably not far off the price of £50k.

Hey strip out the cats, fit a straight through snakehead decat, remap & get another 80bhp+ from it  at least.

I would love one but in all honesty i would get divorced and couldn't justify throwing that limited car around on the Lanark runs.

I hope someone up here gets one for the summer car shows though :)
