so its getting close enough to the roads frying out to start thinking of runs and being a glutton for punishment i thought id see if there was any interest in highland fling '10 - revenge on the tandoori!

if theres enough interest il stick up a proper thread in events but il get an idea of interest here first and also any suggestions for improvements

for anyone who wasnt around last year the plan is departing Inverness on a saturday morning about 10-11 o clock in 2 groups, progressive and family speeds, following a classified route to skye where we spend the night in portree with a wee bit food drink and banter before touring the island on sunday morning and returning to the main land and dispersing sunday afternoon

you been out "frying" the roads again sweetie?!

edit to add that the format of the last one was fine, perhaps a bit more pub-time would be good, as its rare that we get to drink together as a group.

LOL Imy it took me weeks to stop signing that tune to the great dismay of my poor wife  ha ha sneaking up behind her in the kitchen & giving a blast of ''i just came doon fae the isle o' skye'

Banana will be shod with suitable rubber in the next couple of days.

Well up for another visit to the island in the summer.

Instead of noising up the same locals how about same format but different area, still North of Scotland but not Skye, nothing against Skye just fany something different

start of May is when i was thinking of,worked ok last time for not clashing with anything

mr squiggle sir i shall look into variations of route still ending up on skye, theres also been mutterings of a run northwards from another scallywag on here -im sure either way i can find a suitable donkey haven en route

Sounds good, more drinking time and banter as a group sounds good.

Mini pub crawl ending up somewhere nice to eat ?

Enter the Cullenmin

I have hinted at the possibility of a run in the far north of Scotland with an overnight stay in Ullapool.

I'd be up for doing both a Skye Run and a Northern Run, both with overnight stays and in a large group. Possibly split them up by a few months (Pre summer & post summer). Just an idea

mmmmm Talisker, get it doon yi Grant

At the last Glasgow meet we were nattering about this very subject and Squiggle suggested Applecross as a destination , with 'that road' being good reason - I pointed out that bookings for the hotel or campsite would have to be booked well in advance as it is a tiny (P.O. + inn) village and the campsite is very popular with climbers, hikers, cyclists, bikers + tourists all year round.

The roads are second-to-none , traffic minimal , scenery exceptional ... scooby-juice might be hard to find though - but no worse than Skye ! lol

Discuss . . . .
