evil_scoobs Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Had the scooby on the rolling road today. Went to extreme motorsport and its the best rolling road I have been to out of all the scottish ones. They give you two runs on the rollers and and lots of advice on your car. You also get to see the boost you are running and AFR. Mines peaks about 1.5 bar and drops down later up the range Got a decent enough 347bhp and 325 lb/ft and plenty of flames. paul555sti Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Nice figures and nice flames! Its a cracking set up they have there.
scouk Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I guess thei'll be needign a new exhaust probe after that Great pic!
badbaz Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Lookin good Ross. Was that what you expected to see power wise? Love the flames, maybe you could light your afterburner and make it up to Lanark Meet on Thursday night?

P1_Paul Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 i take it the car has been re-mapped,if so torque looks well down on what would be expected on a twin scroll car,did he give any indication on reason? Yeah, if anything the torque should be equal if not higher than the bhp figure.
evil_scoobs Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Yeah, if anything the torque should be equal if not higher than the bhp figure. There was no mention of that. I did think the torque might have been higher as I thought I had read what you were saying that usually the bhp is similar to torque. Any thoughts why it would be lower?

Hard to say, do you have boost/AFR graphs from the run, also the dyno run print out. Who mapped it?
yellow Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Is the car running any breathing mods like cold air? For reference mine has similar power but torque figure is higher. When it was mapped I was told it would have made more torque if it was just running a panel filter, as opposed to the aps cold air that is fitted. Craig

Craig Yeah its running typhoon induction kit with enclosure RR readout and AFR and boost figures here http://picasaweb.google.com/evilscooby78/S...CNO1g6a4mIz-Iw# RR graph

Did PowerStation map this car, it runs lean for a JDM.

Did PowerStation map this car, it runs lean for a JDM. Its hitting 1.6 bar of boost by 3,500rpm. I thought that was quite good. Do some of the JDMs come in sooner? Yeah powerstation mapped it. Runs lean? You mean my fuel economy should be worse? noooooo lol Is it worthwhile trying to hold more boost up the top end as I see it drops down to 1.2 @6000 then 1bar @ 7000 Not many people seem to talk about mapping or making the JDMs much faster than the UK models. I thought because they had the stronger engine they would be a lot faster easier to mod. Whats CAI? The induction kit?

I've never played with a VF37 so can't say for sure, but I can make that at just under 3K in 5/6th gear on my Octane Booster map. It might just be the difference between the 37 and 36. Running leaner is obviously better for fuel economy, so you're ok. There's nothing wrong with your AFR graph, it's just the JDM's are usually a lot richer out of the box. Mine is 10.5-10.8 on the V-Power map and 11.0 on the OB map. The VF36/7 have a natural drop off point for boost after 6Krpm, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. You can fit a stronger actuator but I think your levels are about right, they're higher than mine at the moment, but I'd guess my car is running more aggressive timing than yours. You're definitely 30+ lb/ft away from where you should be, especially on the V-Power map. Edited June 22, 2009 by P1_Paul
dipsy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) The air temp was a bit high on the two run's 19 first run and second run was 20 odds that must affect the power alot .Never used that octane booster .Vf36 is roller bearing and i am sure i read the compressor wheels and shaft are lighter than than Vf37 for faster spooling might be wrong Edited June 22, 2009 by Dipsy

Its a 2003 JDM STI. I would like to be 30lb/ft up on that reading definitely! I was surprised to see the octane booster brought the boost in a bit earlier or made the power a bit earlier. It was rolling roaded in 3rd gear if that makes any difference to readings, and the temperature was meant to be automatically adjusted by the rollers to ensure consistant results. (seemed quite a cool setup as I always thought higher temps meant lower power)

dipsy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&am...=1&ct=title .See the second picture in top row you see were all the numbers are look on your car and you should see Vf37 in electric pencil instead of stamped on .Thats the way mine show's when you look hard and at the right angle mines a 05 Jdm STI Edited June 22, 2009 by Dipsy
P1_Paul Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 If it's a blob-eye JDM then it's a VF37. I would have thought the run should have been done in 4th as well.
yellow Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Im sure mine is a VF36, I was under the impression only spec C's from 03 onwards were VF37 Probably talking rubbish though!!
dipsy Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Spec c 03 onwards are vf36 roller bearing twin scroll and 03 onwards Jdm Sti are vf37 are thrust bearing twin scroll
