tied old dad
I insure my car through K Micheals and have got their recovery insurance as well, my scoob broke down tonight with the wife driving and the recovery people have refused to recover it home as it needs a flatbed vehicle which is a specialist piece of kit and so charged us £75 to get the car home. (20 miles) This means that everybody who has the same recovery insurance, its useless, unless it can be fixed at the side of the road, you will be stuck with an extra payment to get the car home, god knows what it would cost if you were miles from home.I can't tell you how furious i am. Not very good at all Surely the Breakdown insurance was "not fit for Purpose" you had "4WD" insurance you'd expect "4WD" breakdown cover. But there is probably some "T&C's" or "Small print" somewhere that makes it totally your fault for not reading it but hay you live and learn In the present climate 3 choices really 1) Upgradeyour Breakdown cover 4WD 2) Try to get your money back for your Breakdown cover go elswhere for Breakdown Ins. 3) Just forget it and put it down to experience IMHO IIRC Tony Edited April 29, 2009 by T5NYW Link to comment
Moley_WRX
TBH i have no idea at all what they are on about!!! I have had to use to breakdown cover twice myself, and both times the cars was put on a flatbed and recovered home, without having to pay an extra penny. The breakdown cover is provided by Europe Assist, so i will be very interested to see what they say about this matter Link to comment
fmj
It is also worth checking small print for car ages... My insurance has break down cover included BUT only if all cars on the policy are less then 8 years old... So for me its tough as mine is 9 years old. Link to comment

I to have my insurance with Keith Michaels and also have taken the road side recovery option In the last 4 months i have unfortunatley had to use this recovery service twice - once from the side of the motorway and again from Marham - both times a flat bed turned up and both times i was not charged any extra for the service (the trip from Marham to Zen was approx 60-70 miles anf took over 2 hours!) I did not need to ask for the flat bed as this info was known by the recovery company Link to comment
