col666 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I have only had the car on the road for 6 weeks and the modding bug has bitten! So far- Front splitter, Mesh grille, private plate, 18" wheels now got these through the post this morning- BC Racing coilovers from the group buy on Scoobynet. Only ordered on wednesday too so thumbs up for Apex Performance. I had the Basic Tein coilovers on an old scoob and didnt rate them at all but fancied a set of super street's because of the EDFC thingy but Tein have priced themselves right out the market in my opinion. These were under £600 delivered and look like a good piece of kit. The standard struts feel like they are knackered again after she's been sitting for the past month while I was away, when will Subaru do something about it??!
Chief Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Great looking kit, we'll need some before and after shots of course.
the squiggle Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 £600 is a damn good price Be looking for some feedback sometime in the future from you regarding ride quality
cullenmin Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Good choice, I'm getting mine fitted next week. Very quick delivery from Apex performance Rich
bobbyc Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 They look good lads you must keep us posted as to how they perform once fitted, might have to treat the car to a set of these in the future and remove the chocolat ones Bobby
thewelsho Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 They look good lads you must keep us posted as to how they perform once fitted, might have to treat the car to a set of these in the future and remove the chocolat ones Bobby Ooo nice! Make an appointment at the dentist to get all your fillings replaced too.
mystery machine Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 They look like quality kit (says the kint who knows almost f-all about suspension mods) Ooo nice! Make an appointment at the dentist to get all your fillings replaced too.
marky.t.s Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 nice one Col,your going mad with the mods now!....so will you be going on track this year?
scooby222 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 great choice Col,had these on mine for a couple of months and love them -transforms the car! you fitting them yourself? believe awd are offering these instead of tein now for the same reason, price of teins and they were impressed when they fitted mine-first set theyd handled.
fai17 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 WOW...you must be going mad colin. hey will you be going to crail this you mate....i have a shot gun for you there.
ciaranrb5 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Col I fitted mine yesterday same as yours but on a classic. On the softest setting they are softer than the standard suspension which is good as I was worried that it was going to be harsh. They are very well made. Fitted them all on my own yesterday very pleased with myself I have my MOT on Monday so didn't want it to low so wound them up a bit turns out a bit to much
col666 Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) Went for a good run today and cant believe how good these are, not crashy at all and handle big bumps better than the standard shocks. There are 30 clicks from soft to hard and its set to about 10, very comfortable but also hard enough for serious cornering. I will be getting the geometry set up this week so it should be even better. Unfortunately I have probably set a record for quickest splitter loss in history! A dead rabbit which I couldnt avoid took the whole thing off in 3 bits near Aberfeldy Heres a quick pic before the splitter went awol! Mark, I am hoping to get on track at some point this year, its still standard mechanically so far though! Peter, You can keep Crail! I luckily got the 1/4 mile out my system a few years back. Spent a fortune in clutches and gearboxes! Col. Edited February 15, 2009 by Col 666
p1ggm Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 agree with kev, car is looking really good, wheels and coilovers making it look pretty mean
paul555sti Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 The cars looking great Col with the new wheels and lower ride height.
dipsy Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) Looking Good Col and same goes for Ciaran .Col who's doing the job of setting up your geometry Edited February 15, 2009 by Dipsy
oobster Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 That's sitting just perfect. Shame about the splitter though!
ciaranrb5 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) Looking Good Col and same goes for Ciaran .Col who's doing the job of setting up your geometry Cheers it is wound right up for my MOT 2moro because the last car I put in for an MOT with them they smashed the splitter. Have to fit my CAT in the morning stick on a legal plate and pray it passes!!! Then the CAT off on Tue and she is getting lowered and washed!!! Col your car looks sweet now with the wheels and slammed. Where you getting your geometry done? I tend to aim for rabbits and never hit one yet!! Edited February 15, 2009 by ciaranrb5
