TrackScotland Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 New top mount arrived from EXE TC - super fast turn around makes up for their mistake Thanks to Simon at Wallace for swapping them over - dont have a 26mm socket and air gun lying around You can see the old one has a wider bolt pattern (on right) All struts on and tighted, lines clipped - just need to have a look at ride heights. PORN sticker Old TEIN HR's (anyone want them) DENTS.... Fixed one dent I made when rolling the rear arches. Gave the lip and upwards belt with a rubber mallet and out it popped, but i still have this one in the rear pas side piller. Any idea for sorting it out?
TrackScotland Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Fitted the MSA/FIA rain light today... it looks a bit retarded but I didnt have the blue book at hand to check the regs. Patience and all that! All i remembered was centre of car, but looks like just any height on the centre would have been fine. Not a biggie to move (lower), and I'm needing the boot lid resprayed anyway :|
bob wrx Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 im still interested in your coilovers adam! just fitted bilstiens and eibachs feels to soft!
TrackScotland Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 they are off, and yours if you want them. Make an offer via PM (not expecting heaps!). I'm in Aberdeen so collection or can arrange postage at your cost.

TrackScotland Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) update(s) Took out another engine on the 6th Feb (suspected bigend bearing.... again). It was a second hand engine, and was always a bit loose sounding from the off. It is being replaced with a freshly built Lateral 2.1 stroker. EJ20 Closed Deck block. EJ257 2.5lt STI crank, block machined to suit. Lateral H Beam long stroker rod set Lateral/Wiseco custom 2.1lt piston kit, with up rated pins Uprated oil pump layered metal HG's Heads - The old (second) engine had a set of worked (by BGV) heads on them with race cams. These were sent down to RCM for inspection and after a bit of deliberation it was decided that these werent the best for my application. Sent another two sets of heads to RDM (standard V4, and SMG V3) for inspection. The SMG worked heads were chosen and built up with supertec valves, titanium valve gear and the piper race cams. Turbo - Rebuilt the TD05-20G that was on before. Will use this for running the car in, and then see where the wind takes me. Inlet manifold tidied up 8mm bung to replace one way breather valve (that I had blocked off anyway) cleaned and masked same blue as Skyline cage..... hope it'll look ok in the Impreza engine bay LOL Headers wrapped..... The engine and car are now rady for re-fitting. Edited May 26, 2010 by TrackScotland
johns Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Looking good. Will you have it ready and run in properly in time for Brands Hatch at the end of next month?
TrackScotland Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 possibly.... just not sure if i'll be in the coutry I'm away to Sakhalin on Monday.... touch and go wether I'll be home in time for Brands.
johns Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I'm heading down to Brands as well, I'll drive it for you
TrackScotland Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) Updates... New engine is in - mapped - run in - oil changed. Its just getting some finishing bits and bobs done to wiring for MSA Blue book regs. It SHOULD be out on track on the 16th IF the spare wheels (gold) fot over the calipers. New wheels arrived today - but dont have the arch mods done to accomodate them yet LOL 9" wide on a classic 2dr. how the car was looking.... front splitter setup is slighty different now. Be good to get it back out on track and hopefully used in Nippon and SMRC Sports & Saloons before the end of the year Edited August 7, 2010 by TrackScotland
ciaranrb5 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Glad to hear you got it back running again Hope this engines lasts a bit longer. Now get yourself a rotated setup and test that new engine out Makes me miss mine It will be finished by mid 2011 hopefully. Not looking for any Instrument techs on Sakhalin are they?
TrackScotland Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Pass - I'm all over (West of Shetland just now LOL ) - I wouldnt want to work for any length of time in that **** hole either. Turbos - Dont plan to go rotated (not yet anyway) Plan 500bhp on a standard mount MD321 (T would it be?) and some gearbox mods (JDM DCCD 6sp) to suit. 500bhp is MORE than enough..... I cant help thinking a lot of these cars coming out now are all about headline figures - wouldnt fancy trying to keep it on track at that sort of levels.

Yes I recon a lightweight 2 door with 500bhp and the correct suspension would be pretty hard to beat. Im in 2 minds what to do would realy like an external wastegate childish I know West of the Shetlands nice im east of Aberdeen about 135 miles till the 19th
TrackScotland Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I should be home around that date too. Go for what ever you want Depends what you want out of the car too.
TrackScotland Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 a pic showing its lovely gold wheels LOL mmm mmm (Simons old ones finally making it onto the car as a stop gap till the widearches are done) Fee needed to fit a 5mm shim to clear the struts on the rears - high offset wheels, about 2deg camber. The Advans dont clear the front brakes so they'll be up for sale soon. also looks like a fair amount of weight transfer (to the rear under acel) going on in the pic... no idea what she had the susp set up as, or even if the ride heights are quite right LOL
Gus134 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Im liking the look o that, you guys have done a grand job
TrackScotland Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 took it to Ingliston - Butchered the arches..... (looks like the car was in as good condition as I though... no rust, no signs of filler etc on all 4 arches.... I did have doubts as i was hacking them up but too late ) It was at this point I really did think I'd made a huge mistake - and was looking up prices for 22B kits to sort the mess out LOL but... with the wheels on I'm a bit happier now... some further 'trimming' will prob be required once I adjust the ride heights.
TrackScotland Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 washed the car, fitted the XP10 pads and went on the look for some more castor First up was flipping the mount for the alloy lower arms (to the ALK) 180deg. The mount is offset so this pushes out on th rear of the arm and forward a touch. Secondly I made sure the ALK's were mounted as far forward in there slots as possible. Its visably added more castor, and given some toe in that will need sorted crappy pics... but this is the mount I flipped before after clean'ish longer wheel studs and some hubcentric spacers arrived I'm being optimistic and thinking I can space them out 16mm more 5mm shims allround in pics above, could have gone with an ET15 or 9.5" rim but wouldnt have got these wheels in those sizes see what happens
TrackScotland Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 some updated pics (from KH, Anglesey and Oulton) Car: Swaped to a Simtek ECU now, still having issues with the flexi section on the up-pipe so may well need to replace it Eventually the plan is to go rotated with a GT30 and aim for 500hp and go chasing Skylines. Its sub 400 just now.
TrackScotland Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 (edited) updates: Killed another engine through oil starvation (Lateral 2.1 this time ) Tried to hold 8000rpm through the Esses and Barcroft at Croft New engine is fitted and nearly run-in - Another lateral 2.1 CDB, race cams etc - billet 321V. Car looks slightly different just now - to fit in regs for the classes I race in. So BGW was whipped off Immediate plans: Fit the dry sump, lightweight doors and lexan windows. Fee will also be competing in a 2dr GC8 next year after rolling her GTR Edited June 8, 2013 by TrackScotland
