I'm Back In A Subaru.....

Well after 18 months without a Subaru I took the plunge and bought this Hawkeye STI today. I had been looking at old classic's to buy as a second car with a view to making a road/track car but after much thought I decided running 2 cars wasn't ideal.

I always said I would never have a newage but hey ho here I am....sorry classic guy's!!!! I still think they are the 'real' Impreza's though.

I picked the car up first thing this morning from Grieve's in Falkirk who I recommend, great service, and decided to take the scenic route back to Perth. Through Doune, Callander, Lochearnhead, Crieff etc.

First impressions are-

The seats are too soft and not enough side support but very comfy when cruising. Stereo's awful too.

The steering is a bit short on feedback but I think that's more to do with the rock hard Avon tyres that are on it!

You cant throw it about like a classic, very little body roll but you can feel all that extra weight when your change direction quickly.

She drinks a bit but that was expected!

A lot more solid and safer feeling than the classic's.

Very torquey and smooth power delivery, didnt realise these had a shift light was worried when this red light kept flashing on the rev counter!

Deceptively fast, cruising along near Comrie I didnt realise I was near licence losing territory!

Its too damn quiet, got absolutely no burble or anything....but that will be sorted very soon

Overall I am very impressed. 7.5 out of 10 :D

Not the best pics, was too busy wanting to drive the thing and didn't check camera settings..oops.

Just after picking it up, all nice and shiney which didn't last long!

Somewhere near Callander I think-

Didn't stay clean long!

Went home and fitted a front splitter which I think makes the whole front a lot meaner, then headed back out for another blast-

Fantastic m8 - I love the Hawkeye on the newage models - black looks great too - it's amazing what adding that little splitter on can do for the looks!

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! and YES! What a way to make a comeback into the Scooby fold - stunning car! Rather nice pics too! Makes me so want to have a splitter back too  Maybe one day!

Enjoy it man! :D

Very Nice, like that a lot...... Just wish they would add Subaru to our company car list as that would be exactly what I would order

It's gonna take some cleaning and polishing...... Great wee drive up through the sma' glen from Creiff though. Must take a run through there this weekend...

Welcome back buddy, knew it wouldn't take too long. :D

Nice looking car you've got yourself there, really like Black Hawkeyes.... I agree that the standard exhaust is poo, took me a couple of hundred miles to get mine off and changed for something a bit more throaty.

When the mood takes you, then basic stage 1 mods work wonders with the way the car drives in the mid-range and you really see the difference that the 2.5 makes over the 2.0 cars.

Cheers,

Grant

Nice looking motor. Splitter on the front makes a huge difference IMO as well.

Found that you get a bit of burble with swapping the backbox, but swapping the entire system makes a huge difference... think the downpipe is ridiculously restrictive on the 2.5's.

nice motor, 2.5 litre too, sure it won't be long before a wee tweek unleashes all those extra torques hiding under the bonnet

thats what i like to see collecting new car and within hours 1st mod fitted

Clean as a whistle in first pic then when you get home its shows you had a good drive back lol,

I have the same car with plenty of mods though, murder to keep clean.
