MY ENGLAND

I think this really sums it all up.

After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T!

After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered.

After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham , West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others !

This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen.

Published in a British tabloid newspaper.

IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT.

Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the 'politically correct' crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain . However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and women who laid down their lives and one of the millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! 'In God We Trust' is our National Motto.

This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St.George's cross offends you, or you don't like ' A Fair Go', then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.

If you aren't happy here then P* *s OFF! We didn't force you to come here.

You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it. I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please.

Spot on Monk.

This subject really pisses me off.

Ba Ba Black Sheep is not longer allowed - They ban the Gollywog from jam jars - Islamic rights get away with "no crash helmets" on bikes if turbans are worn - certain ethnic police "do not" wear OUR traditional Police hats and so on.

I have nothing against people from other parts of the world coming to OUR country to improve their life style, in fact I have some good friends that have done just that and they have better qualities than many Brits, but come on........ you want to live here have the decency to abide by our way of life.

It's quite simple: You are more than welcome, you just need to WORK here and live by OUR rules of many many years.

In fairness, many of them who chose to live here are among the hardest workers and would put most of the current youth to shame.

Many Asians work many hours, and if you have the opportunity of employing guys from the Russian States, then do so. The communication can sometimes be a problem but trust me, you won't get more committed employee's anywhere. Most of them know three words "Ok, No Problem".

As for 90% of today's youth, forget it. I have employed many, and told the lot to f**k right off.

They have proved as much use as a Handbrake on a Canoe.

Can't beat "Old School".

Good topic Monk. You & I would get on famously ;)

Agree 100%, I moved to Spain last year basically cos i'm sick of all the P/C ****e thats going on now. I felt i was being penalised for being British all the time whilst Muslims were changing our laws and our way of life to suit them. They even have there own Sharia law now getting a hold which has no place in the UK. I came to Spain and am proud of being British BUT i try my best to speak Spanish and respect there rules, law and way of life unlike the Muslims do in the UK. Lets be honest here, The UK isn't exactly an oasis but it WAS ours and we are proud of it but we are a soft target for them as many places across Europe like France will not bow and fold to them like we do. I also feel that there is also a problem with the youth of today but lets be fair most have nothing to do and struggle for jobs as most are given to the polish who have received all sorts of insentives from the government and work for less money and sent it back home, I'm not saying they dont work hard but there money doesn't go back into our economy where it should do and our youth cannot get on the housing ladder or even get council propertys because they are being given to immigrants. Parents, Teachers and the Police also need further backing by the government as kids get no disiplin from anyone anymore with fear of being prosicuted for doing anything and the kids know that. I could go on but my fingers are hurting.

This is a very balanced view, good to see that the opinion is not to tar all immigrants with the same brush. Some are here for the readies, and dont see the need to integrate, but most are putting in extra effort to become part of our great nation.

Agree largely with the first post, although i would point out christianity judaism and islam all worship the same god. Lets face it, only one religion likes to cause trouble in the name of religion. Not all muslims are terrorists, but unfortunately at this time all terrorists are muslims. Sikhs and hindus are among the most peaceful people you can get, so why muslims are different i dont know. Certainly the quo'ran has been wildly distorted by years of saudi funded re-writing, it now differs greatly from original versions which are peaceful. Seems to me they are just spoiling for a fight and the jihad concept excuses any violence originally condemned by the quo'ran. And the only reason they are any threat to us is because of the funding and training they receive due to oil profits. I remember when people said the iraq war was about oil - so what if it was? People have gone to war over lesser things, and if it was, why is it still expensive. The first country to fully harness hydrogen power will be the worlds only super power, and by god lets hope they are western.

Totally agree with all major points. I also work with a couple of Polish chaps who have been over here for getting on 10 years and they share the exact same view as we do.

Both of them expects to live and abide by the way of life that is british, they speak pretty good english and get just annoyed as I do when reading about all the cr*p that goes on when it comes to being 'PC'!

And are they not trying to now bring in seperate law for muslims so they can have their own court and punishment system?? WTF, you live in our country and so by our laws you should abide, just as we would if we were to move to another country.

Honestly I think the not-so-great leaders of this country are starting to turn soft (in the head) and letting things get just a bit out of hand.

There was even a rumour that the Red Arrows were being banned from the opening of London 2012 as they might offen as they are too british!?!

And I even got turned away from a club a while ago as I had a lion with union jack on my top

Common sense it seems is starting to run very thin on the ground nowadays :crying:
