stubaroo Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Just a little poll to help me and Lindsy stop fighting over which colour the brake calipers should be painted on our car. I will not reveal our individual preference as not to sway anybody's vote. I am not going as far as having the calipers removed, split and professionally painted on this occasion. I am just going to paint them very carefully myself with the wheels removed. Using something like Halfords brake caliper paints or I've also heard that smooth hammerite paints work well. Then coat with a clear laquer. Any pointers on good products welcome.
craigy Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 i have gone for other i say change the yellow writing sticker on the front to black then the calipers to blue with black writing there you would have one mean stealthy looking car with only two colours all over it just my opinion though
thefastone Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Ooooh, I dont know, I like the idea of yellow, but to be honest, blue, would be better, depends of you want it to clash or not, but I'd say that you have gone all out of your way to get the wheels with the Blue rims, that you would probably spoil that with different coloured calipers... Black would be too Plain I wouldn't even consider it, and red or yellow, would be really out of place as theres no other red or yellow on the car... Yellow less so perhaps because of the stickers, but then teh stickers look a little out of place as the only yellow on the car just now... So yeah... Lots of random mumblings later, and it would have to be Blue!
gus the bus Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Blue with white! was going to say that in your other thread but thought I'd leave it for you
mystery machine Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I always liked yellow/blue as a colour combo. So 'yellow calipers with black lettering' would be my vote.

braveheart Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 MM I would of went for the Red and white a bit too much blue for me... Regards Chris.
stubaroo Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Right, ok then, thanks again for all the votes and comments. The yellow stickers on the foglight covers are soon to be changes to white by the way, mayby should have stated that. I personally fancied the red calipers with white letters. I love the calipers in red and thought it would break up the blue/black already on the car. Lindsy wants the blue calipers with the white letters and it looks like she will get her way. As the voting has went heavily in her favour. Voting now closed thanks again people. Oops, not sure how to close the poll so it is still open. Edited September 17, 2008 by Stubaroo
dan06wrx Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Red with white letters. I think it contrasts well. Blue with yellow would be ok tho. Red is my first choice and funny enough they came standard on my 2006 WRX
dan06wrx Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 OOoops. Sorry didnt see the voting had closed sorry to rub it in beings you went for the blue Dan
stubaroo Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Just to show you all that I actually went through with the winning vote. Blue with the white letters. Not the most perfect job, but not too shabby for a 1st attempt. I'm happy with it, a definite improvment i think.
mystery machine Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 New caliper colour is a good match for the new Ally MacBeals What have you done with your old alloys - would you be interested in selling a couple of them? I'd like to replace one or two of mine which were scuffed by the previous owner (nothing serious, but I like the condition of my wheels to reflect the care I take driving my motor! ).

Sorry mate the old alloys are already sold. They would have been no good to you anyhoo because they were BK Racing 238, that were originally on a VW Golf and they were not the correct offset for a Subaru (previous owner fitted them). They should never have been on the car. They are now back on another VW Golf. I did get the original WRX alloys with the car when I bought it but they too are also sold. Dale (the fast one) has them on his car now.
mystery machine Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Nae bother Stu, cheers for letting us know Imagine someone fitting wheels with the wrong offset - that's such a schoolboy error.
