sparky_sj04 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Just had a set of 17" Golf GTI Monza wheels refurbished at Chameleon in Renfrew (the place that gives the SIDC discount).. The price was £160 (£40 per wheel) instead of the quoted £35, the guy reckoned the balancing was £5 each and hadn't been included in our price. But still saved £20 with the SIDC discount... ANYWAY... credit where it's due, was a bit sceptical at first but the job was superb, i'd definitely use them again... Here we are..
fraser87uk Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Chameleon do rock. I have only heard good things.
thewelsho Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 nice one Yip. Got my wheels done there a while back and they did a great job... will be back again if required.
jamesm Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 A recent happy Chameleon customer here too. Just had my heavily kerbed and generally knackered wheels done and they exceeded all my expectations. I couldn't fault the job. I would highly recommend them to anyone. You get an SIDC discount of £5 per wheel so it is £35 a corner without refitting and balancing, or £40 with. Should have posted a few pics up but didn't get a chance to take any photos and now they are covered in brake dust again! Will get some pics up once I have given them a wipe down! I should also thank 'The Welsho' for the kind loaning of his spare wheels whilst mine were being done.
AlanG Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Might as well add a thumbs up here too! Did i shedload of stuff for me at the beginning of the year and everything was spot on. They also made repairs to one set of alloys before powdercoating and you'd never know. You'd swear the wheels were straight off the factory floor. I've had the same feedback from folks i've recommended them too.

micra_wrc Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 ...They also made repairs to one set of alloys before powdercoating and you'd never know. You'd swear the wheels were straight off the factory floor.... ditto they did the same for me and the wheels looked brand new
st3ph3n Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Always good to see praise when it's due. Wonder what mine would look like with purple wheels .....

scotsman Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 How long do the wheels take to get done? I'm looking to get mine done but don't have a spare set around to swap over whilst they are getting refurbished. Do that have a same day service? Cheers Richard.
thewelsho Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Chameleon do rock. I have only heard good things. Now for the bad: Got my car done a year ago and the laquer has started to flake off around the wheel nuts and small instances of bubbling appearing here and there, not happy
Linky Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Now for the bad: Got my car done a year ago and the laquer has started to flake off around the wheel nuts and small instances of bubbling appearing here and there, not happy Very poor if the laquer is comin' off so soon. Have you tried to take them back John?.... I'm afraid id only use Trevor at ESP for powder coating. I know the guys Dougie and stevie that started Chameleon and when they gave it up i had heard it went down hill due to lack of experienced personnel but also have had no personal experience and understand rumours are sometimes not founded.

Dunno whether to complain or not, dunno if its worth my while or hassle. Probably just stick with it till they are a lot worse and get someone else to do it.
