Seemed to have managed trigger the camera near me whilst driving over the speed limit ( nooooooooo never). No markings on my side?. Cheers Kev Link to comment

Cheers Kev I thought you could, or at least they are bringing it in.. I know of one near a mates flat that goes off on oncoming traffic all the time, whether or not they get tickets for it or not I don't know... Link to comment
andy
Depends on the camera. Truvelo are type-approved for forward facing photos. Gatso's aren't. Link to comment
thefastone
Theres one in Aberdeen that sits in the central reservation... and when you go past it, it would appear to be facing you... (wrong direction) Dont know if Ive ever seen that one going off... (it is a Gatso) Havnen't seen any truvelo cameras in Scotland, not to say there arn't any, I've just not seen any.... and only seen a few in England... Have seen a few Specs systems though (average speed), thankfullly the ones is Scotland have only been temporary... theres a few on the M6 and I forget the road, but not far from Barnsley, theres miles and miles of Specs... thewelsho
Ohh theres permanent average ones around ayr, a bit of a pest to be honest Yeah, all over Ayrshire. At the end of the A77, they have dropped the limit from 70 to 50 - real genius I have never seen the Truvelo forward facing cameras in Scotland either. I don't think we have them. Link to comment
terzo neil
yes there are 2 of them at a railway crossing near broxburn to id drivers who jump the barriers when the train is coming Link to comment
thefastone
But they are traffic light cameras, I dont think they can do you for speeding... think theres a few cameras like that in Glasgow... but dont think that they are Truvelo....? think they are a different system... Link to comment
oletam
Generally the Gatso only fires at oncoming traffic when it's not loaded, i.e. no film in. Link to comment

Dale that camera definitely works, mate of mine got done because he is a donkey Basically he drove to work and the camera was pointing one way so on the way home he nailed it past thinking the camera would still be pointing the same way as the morning, unlucky for him they must have changed it during the day, so he got a little present in the post a couple of days later. He wont be making that mistake again Link to comment
Rednosespeccltd
AFAIK there are NO truvelo's in scotland, the ones you see at railway crossings and lights are not Truvelos as they are activated by a panel in the ground and not the 2-3 (rumble type) strips on the road. When the light goes to red if you crawl over the panel you will get pic taken even though you are not really moving You cannot get prosecuted by forward facing GATSO. Mac Link to comment

thewelsho
You sure? The A77 goes all the way down to Stranraer!! Alan, I just picked it up at Stewarton (or around where they start), and came off a good bit before the Prestwick Round about and there was new 50MPH limit signs up My sat-nav was still warning me that I was in a 70 zone. That was as far as I went. Link to comment
AlanG
The limit hasn't been long been changed Welsho. I'm led to believe there was a fatality on that downward stretch recently on the road you mentioned, hence the lowering of speed limit. As for specs when you're on the A77, the cameras start just after Kilmarnock and continue down to that roundabout you mentioned. If you take the 1st exit which leads to Ayr instead of the 3rd which leads to Prestwick, there are no specs cameras until after the next roundabout (about 2 miles or so) when they restart again and run to at least the next roundabout (where you would go if you're heading for Ayr/Ayr racecourse/S&S etc). i believe these cameras are all the way down the A77 to Stranraer, but i've not been down that road for many a year to confirm, only what i've heard. thewelsho
The limit hasn't been long been changed Welsho. I'm led to believe there was a fatality on that downward stretch recently on the road you mentioned, hence the lowering of speed limit. Well that isn't hard to belive. On the way home on Saturday I saw around 10 cars strewn all over the place; cops everywhere. As I was going Glasgow bound traffic slowed, as I got closer there was a car by the side of the road with a bus in front of it with a cop car in attendance, a few meters from there was another car with people attending it, still further, about a 1/4 of a mile there was a car on the Ayr bound side of the carriage-way high up on the enbankmank with the driver emerging from it, then a little bit further yet another car, this time a woman and again on the anbankment of the Glasgow side. There was damage to the central barrier in a couple of different places. Police cars where coming down the road from all angles. I can't say that all these incidendts were related as they were too far apart but there must have been at least three seperate accidents all happening in the space of a few minutes. It might have been caused by the weather as the rain was torrential at that time. Then! As I got nearer Glasgow there was another accident involving at least 5 cars on the Ayr-bound side! One was overturned on the middle of the road and burnt out. There where at least 4 other cars all around with smashed this and that. Carnage man. The Ayr side was shut and the traffic tailed back for miles. Must have been a while as people were out of there cars walking around and talking and stuff. On our side was the fire engine and some police cars, so we were down to one lane and passing at around walking pace. The road had been closed at the big roundabout where the new EK road meets the M77 and traffic was being diverted onto the old road. Link to comment

AlanG
Over recent months i've seen quite a number of incidents involving usually 2 or 3 vehicles on the South bound dual carriageway just where the *new* A77 road ends and joins on to the *old* A77 at i think it's just before the Fenwick Hotel. The incidents are usually just after the slip road on to the A77 where the *old* original A77 ends and you have to choose between turning right to go to Stewarton or left to either some village or other (Fenwick?)or onto the new A77.
