this is true... but not many could keep you out on the track twice as long without you screwing the oil.

Well there's a good point but in saying that, I wouldn't stay out any longer than 1 warm up 5-6 flying laps 2 cooling laps anyway. Thing is, I dunno how long it took before I was hitting 120 and I dunno if it woudl actually go any higher than that. Then, you have to ask yourslef, "how accurate are teh gauges"? More accurate than having none I suppose. Ach well, I guess I gotta suck it up, which means no new stickers - cr4p! :(

About 115c the oil starts to go past its usefulness stage. You do seem to have been bitten by the track day bug and an oil cooler will helpin your circumstances

Wee bit off topic, here is a link to the company i was talkin about. For when the funds allow

nice vids. :(

speaking of thermostats, have you got one of those earlier opening water thermostats? that should help lower oil temp too but not sure how great an influence it would have.

That's what I was suggestion euan. The Zero/sports one works great one mine. Although alang told me that you can just drill out a standard one to a specific size and it does the same job! Can't remember the size though or how to do it. I got my Zero one from ebay for cheap though.

John - the one at the alternator is the oil pressure one. It goes in where the standard low oil pressure sensor goes. But if you have that there then I imagine you have the temp one in the gallery above 3. You take the IC off to get at it. It was where I was recommended to fit mine for a more accurate idea of temps.

If you can really be fecked you could probably get a generic oil cooler off ebay, then just get the proper lines etc. and fabricate something yourself.

Or buy something good instead!

Stephen, your talking to a guy who can't change wheels without a drama let alone fabricating and fitting oil coolers etc.!!!

Yes, the IC came out as well to get access to some sensor, so I'm probably fitted up the same as you. I think I will get a thermostat like yours, get that fitted and see if that brings the temps down a bit.
