Trackhound Tuning Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 (edited) RIGHT!lets see.. where to start! Firstly thanks to all you good folks that I met and were so helpful to me on my first day out! There's no ACTUAL pictures of me on the track yet.. but I WAS there.. I can prove it with the gearbox rebuild bill that is to follow from todays fun... explaination; APPARENTLY the 99/2000 wrx is famous for 3rd gear cooking, so thats what happened to me today - so quite an expensive day out, but so much fun while it lasted ..Its just a motorsport learning curve I guess! Also - does anyone know who was in the BLUE WAGON? Because they will have a highly amusing video of me exiting the pit lane, and spinning off after the second corner! He was right behind me with the camera rolling.. i'd love to see that! .. I had got used to the instuctors laps and forgot to account for tyres cooling down. Pure inexperience really. circuit fee £96 fuel £50 octane booster £20 slicks hire £75 30 mins of pure enjoyment: feckin pricey as it turns out! after this fiveundredquid rebuild. live+learn. I will be back, and i'll try to bring some more talent next time. I'll get some on eBay or something. Hi there - I was me in the blue wagon. Here's a link to the footage on you tube. It's on the 3rd lap on the video I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYFql1SvgPw Rather a close call but quite amusing. Just as well my brakes were on form! It was me in the pits that checked the gearbox oil level on your car. Have you tried the gearbox with the oil topped up - is it any better or is 3rd still out of bounds? Cheers Alistair Edited March 16, 2008 by Trackhound Tuning
4Hero Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 (edited) What an excellent day, and a top turnout from the sidc bunch! It was great to meet everyone yesterday. Here's a "few" snaps from me: phew I also uploaded the originals of these, if you click on each photo you will see "All Sizes" above the photo, click on it and select the size you would like You can also view the collection, or view as slideshow. I do have some more I need to sort through, so if I've missed anyone just let me know Edited March 16, 2008 by 4hero
paulc555 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 cheers Neil......thought everyone had forgot about me....photos are great..as usual......... thanks mate Paul
uRaBu5 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Great to catch up with lots of folk yesterday! Big thanks to Higgy for taking Dougie out and bringing him back in one piece – car is looking and going fantastic! In fact there were a hell of a lot of great looking cars there altogether. Some great pics as usual, think the SICC (Subaru Impreza Camera Club) is expanding all the time – how you can afford both as a hobby is beyond me. I don’t have enough organs in my body to sell!! Derek
4Hero Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Paul, I have plenty of shots of you after looking through them this morning. I'm in the middle of sorting them all out (as the ones above seem a wee bitty dark). I'll post an update when I'm done
st3ph3n Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Looks like a fantastic day was had. I must admit that when I was driving through to Edinburgh and I got to the forth road turn off on the M8 I was sorely tempted to just hang a left and come up but I had too much to do. Loving the Type 25 - drool.
spooks Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Fantabulous pics as per Neil, always look forward to veiwing yer pics. Took this pic for Dougie549 of Rhys ( I hope I spelled that correctly), couldnt get into the car that well with all my gear round my neck so thought this would be an interesting composition.

Cheers Alistair Hi Alistair, thanks for posting that vid of me spinning.. yup - inexperience oozing from every pore! .. but now i've learned to take it very much more easy on thr first lap out the pits! I don't want learn 'not to crash into tyres' the same way though. Unfortunately 3rd is no more - its gonna be a re-build. Neil - GREAT shots, thanks mate!! I Really like this one

RS Grant Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Was really good yesterday, a bit chilly in the wind, but it stayed dry which was the main thing. It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces and also meet some new faces, John & Dale (TheWelsho and thefastone) being the most memorable.. Welsho, thats a quick WRX you've got mate, also loving the vortex generator on the roof. Dale, hope your parents recover from the flu soon..... that car really needs washed. I think I told a lot of you this yesterday.... but I had an awesome time. It was the first time on track with the Spec-G and it did pretty well, think I only pulled over for an Exige and a couple of those Caterhams.......... but I did seem to time it right so that none of the REALLY quick cars were out on the track, didn't mean it, honest!! Was happy to take a few people out for pax laps too, glad I could share some of the fun that I was having on track.. and show ex/current 2.0 owners what the 2.5 is all about. I dont think that I'm going to sell the car now, will try and use it a bit more, treat it to some more handling (whiteline) goodies and putting my name down for the next trackday too.. haha, the bug has re-bitten!! I appreciate the pics of the car so far, so dont be shy, if you've got any more... fire them up for me. Cheers, Grant
