A Sad Day.

To my decals ;) WEnt out to install the solenoid discussed on the other thread and decided to see what it would be like trying to take the graphics. Three hours later I was finished! Once I got started, I couldn't stop. Thankfully no loss of laquer. I didn't have time to clean the car up so I will do that during the week.

Exactly what i was thinkin.

Car looks so bare without the gfx, just so used to the car with the SWRT scheme

the naked look is not good for you John. When you getting new ones???????

Good to hear that there was no paintwork hurt in the stripping.

Yeah, it is naked looking, I don't like it and it will only be worse when I get theother ones off. I didn't wnat to take the WRC graphics off, but they were badly faded. I am going to put something else on but dunno what yet. Looking more and more likely that it will be the Ken Block "Monster Drink" design but I will try Photoshopping it first. I miss my stickers :D

Must admit John I'm not a fan of graphics myself, but when I first saw your car I thought that actually looks quite smart. I now couldn't imagine your car without them. Glad no paint was hurt in the process! :D

Heres a mock up of the Monster one, any thoughts on this?

There is still more to go on the rear qurter and rear bumper as well. not to mention the front bumper one will all be replaced too - except the Tein one.

Hi John,

Would need to see the finished mock up before I passed comment, but looks good so far - and certainly stands out. How did you take the old decals off? Did you use a hairdryer, or follow my advice with the DeWalt Heat Gun?

Cheers

Heat Gun mate, just as you suggested. No way would a hairdryer have been up the task. The day-glo graphics are much toucher than the other stuff and need more heat especially since they have a reputation for lifting laquer.

but what are the alloy wheels you have on the car John?

Not usre of the brand, but they are PFF7 copies. I got them from a place in Falkirk called "Skids". They were really good. All supplied and fitted with rubber (Khumo) for £700.

I'm not a lover of graphics on a Scoob, but thats maybe because they are always some variation of the SWRT thing... with a few more added, that Monster Scheme is gonna look pretty different. I like it so far mate and I'm glad to hear there was no laquer lifted. :D

Cheers,

Your a brave man John removing them gfx. Can't wait to see the new look. I'm quite sure you won't have any entries in the "W.I.Y" topic as everyone will know exactly who they've spotted! :D:D

Have you done a full mock up of all the gfx? Looks pretty tidy IMO but still a bit bare in that pic above. Had actually been half wondering about the Monster scheme myself (Crystal Grey STi) after seeing the Mtn Lab scoob and snowboarders

Could never find a decent pic of the car to see what all gfx were on it though.

Na not yet, still looking for decent donor-images.

yeah, was the problem I had. Would be quite cool (as in easy for me) if you did the gfx on a new blank layer on your pic, so you could send a copy of the gfx as a clear layer to be overlaid on any coloured scoob side on when you do finish
