sparky_sj04 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I'll just start here by saying before anyone saddles up the high horses, or prepares to burn me at the stake... (perhaps quite rightly so) I am talking about private roads here, and not her majestys' highway.... Too many potholes in her majestys' highway!! So that being said has anyone experienced a loud buzzing noise starting at about 120-130mph and getting worse from then on up? It's a blobeye STI... Could be a bit of bodywork vibrating but just wondering if anyone has had the same and therefore it might be fairly common...? Cheers chaps.
st3ph3n Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Wipers and or the fact that the seals on the pillarless doors are piss poor. Try putting the window slightly down then back up again if you hear it. I certainly had the same buzzing noises on the Autobahn. Although high speed journeys in this country are usually accompanied by NEEE NAWWWW NEEE NAWWWW. That's to be expected.

Cheers man might give that a go, it's a brutal buzzing but not it's not a daily occurence so i'm sure I can live with it!! Of course if it's accompanied by a NEEE NAWWWW then the wipers and door seals won't matter much anymore!! Neither will my licence.... and i'd quite like to keep a hold of that..

Smiler AS Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I had same. Came on aboout 125mph, but didnt sound like air coming in or anything, did sound like an actual buzzer but cant say I was able to look about the car at the time. The Vectra GSi would have been able to check the rear of car for me....with a set of binoculars!
johnnyr6 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 i wouldn't worry about it, it's just your car telling you that your going too fast and you should slow down before you die. It goes away at about 140 (when the door seal completely gives in). Maybe thats just the classics. Johnny.
nanaki Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 for me it was the back left window seal. came in at around 85. it was easier for me to tell though as that window was even letting water in when the weather was bad. if you can find 3 willing passengers then they should be able to help you work out which corner of the car its from.

Never had this problem as the millenium Falcon will only do 128 mph.

I've just got a really long parking space... Think I spotted you last week on the East Kilbride/Tradeston M8 exit, I was stuck in a jam on the main motorway so only caught a glimpse... could be barking up the wrong tree of course, wouldn't be the first time...
