andy Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Call me crazy, but how great a tribute would it be if we could line at least part of the route to the celebration of Colin and Johnny's lives with cars? Crap image of idea Cars lined up at a 45 degree angle to the road, headlights, foglights ablaze, using pavements if necessary. Sod it. We only get one chance to say goodbye and, if arranged correctly we could probably get agreement from the Police for this. Not just Scoobies, but anyone who loved and respected Colin and wanted to take part and show their final respects.
evokiller Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 andy i think that would be a brilliant idea and a gratefull way to say goodbye to the king of rally and his young co pilot i would be up for this cheers jc

Not just Scoobies, but anyone who loved and respected Colin and wanted to take part and show their final respects. That's a brilliant idea!! If you can make that happen you've got to get someone to record the bypass with a video camera. I'd love to see that...! just thinking about it......
hosstheboss Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Fantastic idea - a fitting tribute to a real hero, his son, family and friends.

darren_connor Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Brilliant Idea, I grew up 7 miles away from Lanark and often seen Colin and Alistair racing around the industrial estate in lanark, I just came back up from Norwich last night so missed sundays tribute, but let me know when this is organised and I WILL be there !!! The more the better, GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!
phil Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Andy We should get you to organise our show events Just to throw a little fly in the ointment As its a private funeral and this will be a celebration of there lives will there actually be a route ? CRACKING IDEA THOUGH
oz *sti* Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 First of all have to say what a great idea. If this is something that can be pulled off and all families involved are happy for us to have such a present on the roads / pavements – then I would be more than honored to be involved with this.
Bailey73 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 If this happens then I will certainly come up from swindon.

StewartyBoy Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Sounds like an great idea. Was having a think there, more along the lines as to what we can wear to show as a sign of respect. Black armbands?
ally-b Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I have posted this info on another thread here , but I thought it best to post it here too. I was contacted today by the events organisers at Lanark market who asked me to inform everyone that this weekend is the tractor show and they are expecting over 7000 visitors to the market. They had heard via Radio Clyde there would be a meet and suggested that it would be better not to meet this weekend as unfortunately it would be too busy because of the Tractor show . She said that we would be more than welcome to use their carpark etc to muster for the Memorial service or indeed any other time to pay our respects as they knew Colin well , and they saw the Club presence on Sunday and would like to help us . As soon as date and times are announced for the Service we will organise SIDC/Scottish Scoobies meet . Grant (Squirrel/Squiggle) is organising a visit for some of our members who are travelling up from England this weekend - This will be fairly low-key . Cars will be assemble at Happendon services and park up and as few cars as possible will take everyone to Lanark so as to cause minimum disruption . Please contact Grant via PM for more details of this (The Squiggle) We will try our best to keep everyone updated with information , as we get it , via the forum . Thanks . Al.
