Attacked by another Subaru Driver......

Watched a programe the other night about the anti car jacking window film.  Think they said it cost 200 pound.  Might be interested in it now!

I'm guessing that's the price installed the film on its own is actualyl fairly cheap probaly about £20 for the size for two front windows.. may try apply some myself.  I've put reflective film onto company windows before and it's the same sort of stuff just clear and stronger!

Bloody hell! That is shocking! Glad you got

away. Need to be driving with the locks on from now on and if anyone

comes at me with a crow bar I'll be going at them with an Impreza. Hope

you're alright mate.

Although not reccomended incase you are in an accident I've enabled the setting on my standard WRX alarm to automatically lock the doors when the ingition is switched on and then auto unlock when the ignition is switched off again.  Can help against the simplest of car-jackers who try and gain entry without a hammer or cro-bar. Ideally suited if you have valuables in the rear like your kids, laptop, camera e.t.c if you in a traffic jam it can take just 2 seconds for someone to open the back door, swipe what's on the seat and run off.. All done before you can even undo your seatbelt!! think of that!  Tinted windows help reduce people being able to see in teh back which is one deterrant, lockign doors is another! But for car jacking you need somethign more advanced like the secuirity film, or backjax  (or you own personal security guard with baseball bat in the boot!)  Evasive driving also works but you need to react fast and sharp to get away! Well done Alan!

Anyone for a group buy on anti-jacking devices? [:(

For anyone who is not aware of the blackjax system that clifford do basically everytime you get in the car you need to press a series of buttons on the car basic pin code  system which will be located next to where the fog-light switch is.  So start engine press your secret combo of buttons and drive off.  Inconvenient if you are looking for a quick jump in and drive solutions, especually if using as a taxi, every time a door is opened it needs to be disarmed, but here's teh key!  If thecode is not entered and you just jump in the car, start engine and drive off. about 30seconds > 1 min later the car cuts power and shuts down and the alarm sounds.. forcing the hi-jacker to vacate the vehicle quicky, leaving you to follow the sound of the alarm, get inside the car and disable the alarm and re-enter your PIN and drive home or more likely local police station.  Would have been ideal in the above situation where as lng as they were after the car and not you just get out and hand over hte keys and let them take it.. When you get out of the car I.e. open the door, the ant-jacking system enabled and if you dont enter the code within 30seconds the system will arm without any warning the h0jacker will drive off abou 1/2 mile away before tey know what's happened!

Great system!  Doesn't save from vandalism sadly...

Alan, can you give us as much of a description of this white classic as you can? I'm sure everyone would want to keep their eyes peeled for these scum.  Think we'll need to invest in the kind of anti-jacking set-ups that the South Africans use - Flamethrower sidepipes anyone?

Shocking. Do these people have a plan and then just wait for a suitable car to come along?

Great that you got away ok.

Makes me glad I'm fairly rural and when I come home, the car goes straight in the garage...out of sight!

Remember folks......when stopping at lights, leave yourself enough of a space between you and the car in front so you've got room to move if the need arises! We get that reminder on our polis driving....obviously don't have to worry about car jacking!!! Just if a hurry up call comes out!

That is a very scary experience mate, very glad you got away.

SO this was in daylight hours? very scary!

You really do need to put up as much details of this white classic as you can! Was there not a post of one stolen a number of months ago on here and scoobynet?

Bad news this, and I`m paranoid at the best of times!. I also have my alarm set so it locks the doors when the ignition is on for exactly this reason. Glad you`re ok mate, just doesn`t bear thinking about.

Thanks for all the positive coments so far guys [Y]

I have my Clifford alarm set so it locks the doors when the ignition is on, and the doors unlock when the ignition is turned off, never thought I would have to put it to the test.

As for the White Classic in question don't remember a great deal about it, as it came out of now where only really got to see the rear of the car must of been a V4 or V5, high level rear spoiler, It either had a front mount or black mesh in the front of the bumper.

I'm glad you are OK mate - really scary stuff. Sounds like you did the right thing under extreme pressure. Well done for keeping it together.  I think I would have just crapped myself.

I remember seeing a program a few months back, that went into anti car jacking/evasive driving techniques.  The only thing I remember is make sure you can at least see the car in fronts rear tyres.  I thought it was interesting, but never thought anyone would need it in Scotland!  I found this link http://www.securityandsafety.co.uk/main6.htm that seems to offer some good general advice.

I'll be keeping an eye out.

Oz, firstly good that you're safe mate. Secondly well done for ... well maybe not staying completely calm but being composed enough to get yourself out of a really sticky wicket without too much drama.

Will keep an eye out myself for any classics I don't recognise. I must admit that I've taken to sitting quite far off cars at junctions these days for this exact reason.

Bloody Nora mate, Glad that your ok, this is just crepe, you shouldn't need to have to worry about this sort of shit like!

you know that a group buy on security deivces is all fine and well....  but what I REALLY want to see, is a group buy on evasive driving techniques courses... in my mind flight is far safer than letting them have it... and sitting duck is not much fun in that situations either I should surmise...

Sorry to hear about your experience Oz - I hope they catch the guys and they 'accidently' fall door the stairs (several times) in the nick.

I'm so sorry to hear the terrible news and hope that the scum bags will be caught soon or get ran over by a truck.[:@]

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, it's much appreciated. [Y][Y]<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Feeling a good bit better today, I would like to say after a good nights sleep but that did not happen, so lets just say I'm feeling better now a little time has passed.

Needless to say I won’t be going anywhere near that side of town again in the Scooby.

The mentality of some people is really beyond belief, it's just crazy and for all of this to happen a about 12.30 / 13.00pm in the middle of the day, it’s just BONKERS.

Not surprised your not going to drive over that way again... must say i'm feeling slightly conscious about driving around Glasgow in my car now after just reading your story! Will defo be more vigilant!

Hope they catch them and you feel a bit more at ease mate!

Have to say that's one of the most mental things I've read online in a while!  Glad you made it out there ok, as you say the car is metal and can be fixed, much harder to fix a human after a run in with a crowbar.

You just don't think that this sort of thing would go on in the middle of the day, but just goes to show the mentality of these scum, hope they get caught and dealt with to the upmost of the law.

Better to be safe than sorry, I would have legged it as well! I would want to stand upto these idiots (Wee man Syndrome) but these days with crow bars, knives etc it's just not worth it.

My JDM sti locks its doors when you first put it in gear. Used to think it was a pain in the ass but I guess it's now become a safety feature.

Glad to hear your OK, here's hoping the Police catch them but don't hold your breath. That's not to knock the Police, I think the reason these crimes are getting more common is the TO**ERS are getting cleverer at hiding there identity with false plates and baseball caps / Hoodies etc and don't fear or respect the Police/Courts so they don't think they will get caught and aren't scared of the consequencies if they do.

I'm all for ID cards, dna, retina scanning etc. If you not doing anything wrong then why worry.

That said - As Long as the technology is fool proof and only used to confirm peoples identity!

"VOTE FOR ID CARDS" [:D]
