oz *sti* Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Hi all, Well I had a very nasty experience today, I was paying B&Q over at parkhead a visit to get some boring gardening stuff, and thought I would pay my folks a little visit as they live not far from there. I was driving to my folks place when a white classic came from no-where and was right up my ar*e, he then over-took me, with traffic coming on the other side of the road, pulled in front, jumped on the brakes and the passenger jumped out with a crow bar..!!! OH FU*K.. WHAT THE FU*K IS GOING ON HERE….. I then quickly put the car into reverse and reversed away as this guy is running towards me with the crow bar, I am now too far from him so he just threw the bar at the front of the car which bounces off the front of the car. Oh you would think that is bad enough… But then from behind me a corsa or some kind of small hatchback appears, and as I was doing a u turn to get away, the driver of the corsa got out, he also had a crow bar and he ran towards the driver’s door of my car and tried to smash the driver’s window! Luckily for me the window held. I then put my foot down to get out of that situation, I don’t like going that fast on public roads but this was called for as I was trying to get to London Rd Police Station as fast as I could as I felt “my life was in danger” and did not know what they would do if they got hold of me. I went through about 2/3 red lights as I didn’t want to stop and get caught by these nutters, I did go through them slowly, with my full beam on and with the horn working over time. I was lucky because when I was driving along Duke St I saw a Police car and 2 officers (did not think I would be so happy to see the police) who took my details down and I gave them all the details I could remember about the passenger of the white classic and the driver of the corsa / hatchback that was behind me. I advised the police that I had to drive through the sets of traffic lights and they advised not to worry about it. Police advised as I did not know the people or know the reg numbers it will be a long shot to find them but the officer did say they will be checking the CCTV around the area with a view of finding the cars involved. If anyone did see me driving along <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> Duke St at high speed, rest assured this is not the normal way I drive, but when there are crazy people like this out there, needs must to get away. Damage to my car a small 2/3 marks where they tried to smash the window and a dent and 3 scrapes down to the metal in the rear pillar that is next to the rear windscreen. Please be aware that this sort of thing is happening and take care when driving, since I dread to think what could have happened if I was not driving but my partner was instead. Alan.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
exvaux Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 shit sounds like a carjacking or something,as long as your all right tho mate could have been a lot worse.
scouk Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 That's freightening! I was considering getting an anti jacking system fitted to my car a few months ago even though I'm probably not living in a high risk area but to be honest this sort of thing can happen anywhere and after reading that I'm definitely going to start looking into it again. I believe Clifford now have a blackjax system (or whatever it was called) that can be fitted separately form their alarm/immobiliser systems. For interest sake since I was forced to remove the front side tints on my car was also considering looking at armourguard security film for the front just for added security so anyone using a hammer or such like to smash the glass will have a tough time!! P.s. Jeez! talk about giving Impreza drivers a bad name!!
sti walding Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 sh*t mate glad you are ok, there are some nutters out there

chris_c201 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I was reading this thinking it would end with a punchline as surely it couldn't be true... scary stuff.... ! Well done for having the presence of mind for reversing right away and not sitting frozen to the spot!

Jimmy321 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Glad you got away, im sure i was getting car jacked when i was collecting my 1yo kid 5 years back, left the engine running cos the baby sitter couldent fasten the seat belt for the car seat. Stolen Cavy pulled up i jumped in the car and bolted turned the 1st corner to see him rolling over the back seat (did'ent fasten the belt properly cos i was s**ing it) . He was ok cos he was in a carry seat. Also my house was broken in to twice and nothing taking, the cops were convinced they were looking for my car keys.
oz *sti* Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 I know what you mean, you are kinda waiting for the punchline. Well I think if I did not manage to get away as quickly as I did, then forget about punchline I think I would have been the punch bag. Alan.

thewelsho Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Bloody hell! That is shocking! Glad you got away. Need to be driving with the locks on from now on and if anyone comes at me with a crow bar I'll be going at them with an Impreza. Hope you're alright mate.

mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 That is bloody scary stuff man, glad you got away ok and nothing serious happened to yourself!! Did sound like a carjacking especially if there were 2 cars with folk in them coming for you, dam shame that things have got like this these days [:@].
scientific steve Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 holy crapp, [] thats just nuts, glad your ok
the blue dragon Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Thats absolutely shocking mate, glad your ok tho. Anyone could forgive you for having to drive at excessive speed when your in fear of your life. There really are some complete nutters out there now and you just never know if your safe. I dont think there is such a thing as a 'low-risk'area anymore because of the mentality that is all too evident on a daily basis. as said, glad youre okay mate, and hope this doesnt tarnish your love of the scoob. best regards iain
james666 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 glad your ok and got away from them. A car is just metal and can be fixed or replaced, thats why we pay insurance! but might wanna think bout putting a private plate on your car or change something o it so its not reconized by the guys again incase they do get lifted!!
craig mac Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Get there reg numbers up on here thats what i say!! To55ers, glad you are ok m8
brian_paterson Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Thats terrible, least you didn't freeze and had the thought to get out the situation!! Guess we all need to be on look out for these things happening!! Brian
