I cannot confirm until the morning but my step brother has three of these from a written off RB5 in his garage! Your mate might be in a spot of luck if he is willing to punt either them all or just one! I will keep you posted, Chris -
WIY White WRX with CF spoiler Edinburgh Park?
Edinburgh-Chris replied to IanJ's topic in Scottish Scoobies
How's it going mate? The old Jap bomber is running strong and will soon have a host of new and interesting parts installed during the month of February. As things stand, the only thing i am able to do with it at the weekend is give it a good wash and then chuck it back to bed/garage. Atrangley enough i did manage to break the clip on my petrol flap yesterday night............how bloody annoying is that. Good to see/ hear you are still jumping about the various forums. No doubt we will meet on the black stuff during 2006, nice to hear from you! Best Regards, Chris -
That is an interesting one; Joined September 2005 - Posted 1002 notes! Well done Ruby although, that must be an SIDC record of some sort? Chris

WIY White WRX with CF spoiler Edinburgh Park?
Edinburgh-Chris replied to IanJ's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Thanks mate, its a bit of a shame its extremely dirty at the moment and a certain incident involving a large Penicuik Rabbit on the A702, decided to play chicken with me resulting in severe cracked splitter!!!!! Needless to say the Impreza won, my pride is still in pain regarding the damage. I must admit i don't see many other Impreza's about in Edinburgh park except for Mr Gumball's rocket now and again. all the best, Chris -

Technical Help with Electronic Idling Stabilizer
Edinburgh-Chris posted a topic in Scottish Scoobies
Hi guys, My time has come to seek advice on my rev problems. My car is now in its final stages of installing all my expensive parts and then off to Andy F for mapping but i am left perplexed with one really annoying problem. following the installation of a Blitz dual Atmospheric blow of valve, my revs have been slightly erratic under certain driving conditions. if i boot the car and then stop at lights or a juction, the car almost cuts out due to the revs droping to almost 400rpm. I have sent a few E-mails to some guys in Japan and they firstly commented that this is generally a characteristic of atmospheric BOV's. Secondly the installation of the unit described below will ensure adequate correction. Has anyone ever used or installed one of these prior to me ordering it? I am aiming this question at the guys with technical knowledge but willing to listen to everyone for advice, there was a post in her recently regarding someone sending their BOV back assuming a fault was to blame. Thanks in advance people, Best Regards, Chris HKS EIDS The HKS EIDS has been developed to buffer dramatic airflow meter signal fluctuations. By buffering these fluctuations the EIDS prevents engine stalling or stumbling associated with sudden imbalances in air/fuel ratio of airflow meter-equipped vehicles that utilize atmosphere venting blow-off valves. -
Good luck with the mods mate but be warned and i am sure alot of people on here will back me up; be careful with the modification rash! it spreads easily and gets irritating after a while. I personally blame Ebay and the for sale section of SIDC for my ever increasing rash. The option of remap and decat is a good start, the remap ensures everything under yer scoop is working just fine! all the best mate, Chris

Mate, know how you feel! I jumped into the car to drive it after my girlfriend came back with it. drove to the end of my street, stopped and then went to pull away when same thing occured......i Shat my pants thinking the worse, see handed the keys over to me and laughed!!! bloody hell my heart stopped for thwe worse but hey no damage = lets laugh at it now! keep the chin up, Chris

You sound like you are close to me mate. There is a guy in Roslin who specialises in building Subaru engines and could probably do you an engine for a great price. He might be able to salvage some internals from your one..............but don't hold yer breath. His name is Stevie Whitson and he does work for some of the big power runners on here including Mr Forrest and Mr Wilky! He has done wonders with some of my stuff and is a really helpful guy. Give me a shout if you want him in your option plan. Cheers, Chris

Blitz dumpvalve and idling problems
Edinburgh-Chris replied to mazheriqbal_mohammed's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Mate, I have the exact same problem with my Blitz BOV.......i am glad i am not the only one! When i gun my car after warm up the revs bounce up and down for a couple of seconds and then return to normal. It actually stalled on me the other day when i ripped home from raceland and i got a bit of a fright! If you hear anything from someone with sound advice drop me a line would you......am desperate to sort the thing without returning to the standard unit. Cheers, Chris -
I think they actually do but its a special! I checked there website in Japan and there is one available over there. Gauge place.co.uk just restocked so defo worth a phone call. Chris

I actually just bought one of these at the weekend and i am installing it on Saturday with a few very knowledgable guys!! The point i am trying to reach with my car is where my car is sensably siting at a safe boost level without any knock from my sensor or over boosting from the ECU. Since i have had my car i have had a really good exhaust including headers, flexi uppipe and 3" downpipe from the turbo to the back box and i always get fuel cut when really hammering the car. I am not expecting night and day but i am led to believe they are actually a decent piece of kit once learned and trusted. Although i also bought a boost gauge this week just to cover my ass! All the best mate, i will post up my response on the unit over the course of next week. Chris

I am sure that spoiler is the original spoiler that came with the first JDM STi-RA. My mate managed to get one of an STi-RA for his WRX and it looked identicle to that one. Defo not a prodrive number, looks ok to be honest though. Chris

No worries mate i will have the alloy header tank anyway. mark it sold buddy! when can i arrange money with you? Cheers, Chris

I have been waiting for a long time for something like this to be posted..... It is really quite amazing the number of cars that actually can keep up with a subaru! I remember recently when my STi and a Ford Focus had a run in......i won but my god, did i have to work for the victory. The fact is, the old Impreza when first released was untouchable but now...........when manufacturers get something from 180-220 out of a small hot hatch ie. 206gti, renault clio and civic, well its getting harder now. but! i am a strong believer that if you are expected to prove your driving skills then you actually can't hide behind your impreza performance! equal cars are where you shine, lets be honest, anyone here who has raced a car, beat it or kept up with it when you expected less, always goes home with a smile. there's more to a car and driver than the usual Bhp figures. and to finish this, i have never supported racing on British roads, i just like to reset my ECU and if you happen to be behind me when doing so then you are welcome to try and keep up. all the best, Chris
-
Hi mate, Do you have any photos of the header tank, i would be interested in one of these with the winter months apon us. Drop me a picture or two if possible, Cheers, Chris

What area is your mates house based in? If you post it up on Scoobynet, SIDC and watch things like Ebay and the yellow paper am sure something will appear. Its soo dodgy when having things like that hanging around! My mate just had his hut broken into and his £2500 racing scrambler got pinched; same as you mate, they basically climbed over expensive mountain bikes and golf clubs to get the thing. Why don't you drop Andy forrest a line, you just can't slap a TD05-20G on a car without getting it mapped. By the sound of things, the turbos are the most expensive parts missing!! All the best mate, Chris
