another vote for andy f from me. i was in the same boat as you about a year ago. Was told by garage ( salesman ) that normal unleaded was fine for my jdm 95 wrx. came on here and learned about remaps, aftermarket ecus etc,etc and tied this info to the fact that my car seemed to have good days and bad days. After pi$$ing around with eeproms and such like with no real benefit i bit the bullet and took the car to andy f for a power fc install and setup. cost was about £750, now everyday is a good day. so defo get andy to either remap you ( about £500 ?)or go for the apexi power fc. the power fc has the option for a commander unit. This can show you det/knock in near realtime and can fire your dash CEL to indicate knock and only costs £80 sheets. With this installed you can pretty much do away with the knocklink, tho its still handy as it catches the eye when the big red led fires! and can display lots of fancy bits of info to feed your paranoia . either way you wont really know what your motor is capable of untill its set up correctly. so start saving!

heavy shaat mate, looks very good. Might have to get the mr sheen on my engine bay now! keep up the good work

id love 300+ to a tank!!! since my andy f apexi encounter i get 240 per tank regardless of driving style? still at least its predicable!!

i filled up a week or so from the shell at the top of crewe road ( edinburgh ) and had a fair bit of knock just after at motor way speeds. i took it easy for the rest of that tank and at my next fill up from musselburgh shell no more probs. too many people reporting this for it to be paranoia. or is there??

agree with all comments so far. dont do what ive done tho, as i tried to fit the temp sender on to an extended tee piece from lma motorsports ( from the original pressure switch port). the pressure sender will work fine here (cos mines does!) but it seems a bit far from the real oil temp and conduction is the only way the heat can then reach the dead end! doh.. im about to remove the i/c to access the plug near the turbo but every time i try to prise the plastic pipe from the base of the intercooler off i loose the bottle as it feels like its going to snap! so think ill get my mate to do it so i can blame him if it busts;) good luck

Did anyone catch the above program last night at 7.30 men & motors? pretty good i thought, had a few mins film of scoobs going round knockhill followed by about 5 mins of a 22B doing the ring. one of those i wish i had tivo type stuff moments. not sure if the KH film was sidc tho cos i never seen any stickers. anyhow back to work.

cheers callum, will do.

cheers for the reply ian, what about new drain plug seals? this was done about a year and a half ago by AWD and i cant remember if they needed any parts other than the oil.
-
i had asked this question in general but nobody seems to know, so lets try again. As above, ive already sourced some 75w90 milliers oil for the job, but do i need any stuff like drain plug washers or similar? i have been led to belive that one 4.5 litre container will do both the gearbox and the rear diff, does this sound right?? so any tips would be appreciated. thanks again.

keith michael, well worth a call paul moulson is a good lad so ask for him. good luck

nasty one, i know how you feel had to shell out for four new wheels last month, three fecked alloys that could not hold air were costing me a fortune. a new set was the only way to go.

the kl displays the level of engine knock on a led scale by listening to a type of microphone bolted to the top of your engine. the big red led means lift right foot. or keep it down and plan a visit to the bank there is already one fitted by subaru but they dont give you an indication, instead the feed a value to your ecu which adjusts engine operation to stop its destruction. well worth the pennys IMO. they are pretty ugly tho so lots of peeps install the leds remote from the box somewhere nice and easy to see.

the corsa looks like its half way to a crx conversion

Technical Help with Electronic Idling Stabilizer
ormiboy replied to Edinburgh-Chris's topic in Scottish Scoobies
yip agree with drb mate, a stabilizer sounds like a good idea overall but you might be using it to cover an issue rather than fix it. the chaps at extreme motorsport in whitburn have the buddy club unit installed on an evo and they rekon it was worth the £100. have considered one myself as ive noticed my revs do a dance when my subs running loud, but im a cheapskate, i just turn it down! as for the hks device, id prob stick to a general voltage stabilizer as then you are inproving the earthing and giving voltage stabillty to all your sensors rather than just the airflow meter. -
i find myself slithering down salamender street at times, get it slither! salamander? black classsic with nice new rota boost wheels

yip agree with the header tank info tried to fit a few samcos in the car park at work hand found that someone had swapped my header tank for a blutak effigy!! lots of water and a few choice words. new tank 70 sheets and then guess what the next day someone on here decides to sell a nice alloy one for about fifty bucks, bl00dy typical!

as above, had the lads set up the full prodrive geometry at the weekend and im quite pleased so far not been able to go and test it out fully on the bendies but the vague handling at motorway speeds is gone and turn in is much sharper. cant wait till next weekend as im planning a wee drive to check her out fully.

1.3hls metro x reg ......real monster it had a rev counter, so take that! golf 1.3 gls boring but solid. suzuki swift 1.3 gti....fantastic little motor running about 130bhp, very quick and one of my faves. pug 205 gti.....sweet wee motor. would have run it for longer if it had nopt started using more oil than fuel! civic coupe....boring, boring and dull. now.................wrx jdm95.............will hopefully keep this one for a few years yet, then when the antiques roadshow comes round see what its worth! next?? who knows?

Couple of questions... servicing in E'burgh, Legacy?
ormiboy replied to joecuba's topic in Scottish Scoobies
hi mate, if you are going to stick to subaru affilliated garages like nobles then i dont think so. but if you are willing to head out to whitburn there are a good bunch of lads out there at extreme motorsport, and if you willing to head up to perth then the chaps at AWD are sound too. ive read a bit on here about a place called hypertech ? i. do a search and you should find some info on them, i seem to remember bonnybridge near falkirk?? but as far i know i think your limited in edinburgh. hope you find summin
