  1. Thanks very much fellas will pm Gus & have a look through Scotish Scoobies.
  2. Evening all, not been around for a while, new jobs, new baby, new car? Anyway looks like the RB5 has to go for something much more sensible. So as the title says, Forester STi. Just wondering if there's any thing I need to know? Servicing costs, spare parts (as an import are they V expensive?) does it share many parts with equivilant Impreza STi? Worthwhile mods? Any advice greatly appreciated! Kenny
  3. Hey Ho better late than never............So here goes 1 - Who do you use for servicing or repairs to your car, the local main dealer/Specialist/Independent/National chain? So far in in 3 years of ownership i've used a main dealer but after my latest visit, 90,000 mile service,i'm no longer so sure.Would like to go to a specialist enthusiast independant.Anyone got any ideas in the South East, Brighton area?Maybe it's worth the miles to go somewhere like Roger Clark Motorsport? 2 - Why do you use who you use? Have used main dealers upto this point for a number of reasons.Laziness, it's easy to go to the dealer, local choice, keeping the service book fully stamped & 2 people i've delt with there have been very helpful. If they were to leave i would probably stop using the dealership. 3 - What would a competitor have to offer to make you change? Enthusiasm, proven track record in staff & or motorsport, open minded, flexability, good references,Value for money, good comunication. 4 - How would you rate these in order of importance a) Price - Knowledge - c) experience - d) Clear pricing - e) explanation of work done - f) use of genuine parts. C,B,E,F,A,D
  4. If anybody is listening in Subaru/Prodrive land BUILD THIS CAR.
  5. Yup it's nice to see a company going backwards.Start with a 4 door saloon or 5 door wagon then gradually dilute the breed. Then shrink the breed & build a hatch (i mean even 'new Mini', compared with original, has grown to the same size wheelbase as a Freelander),a hatch that should be a big fish, technically speaking,in a lttle pond. The current crop of hot hatches are heavy & slow compared to the sports saloons.Nothing against 'hot hatches' but been there done that. What will Subaru push as their 'aspirational' model?Unless someone has the brains to build the P2.Come on you got to build that bad boy,& hey It's even Fiesta sized & shares bits with the little R1 Micro car.Or is it Evo X time?
  6. & a very good morning to you as well.
  7. Well what's more to add.The political landscape just consists of the middle ground.Labour realised that they would not get elected with socialist values so they took Tory ideals onboard & hey ho we've got a Govt embroilled in the same kind of filth we had when i was growing up.I mean 14 million quid loans?Dodgy ministers (at least 3 or 4 of them) & the special relationship with Mr Bush? I tell you what I had won that £45 million Euro lottery I'd loved to have paid everyone in this country to have a day off work,no public transport use,no shopping,no nothing, just to stay home.Just let them know we still have minds. & here's a thought I heard today on radio 5 live that the 2 cars entitled to zero vehicle exise duty are not sold in the UK,so how does that work then???
  8. Well in my careers talk at school i said pirate or mercenary & now i'm in TV broadcasting so that's about right then.
  9. & to top it off prodrive may well be giving it the once over, bout time we got some of the good stuff from Japan. Now how about importing the Forester STi,Spec C,Ra,etc? I mean if the Vectra VXR (taking nothing away from Vauxhall) can beat the UK STi in EVO's group test then Subaru in the UK haven't moved the game on. 1st Mitsu EVO, 2nd BMW (can't remember which 3 series model, not M3) 3rd Vectra VXR, 4th STi type UK.
  10. Yeah I've noticed some rust when removed the side lights, also underside of bonnet on a MY '99

  15. Just got to say thanks to Gary at the above (and everyone who sorted out this discount).Got a new policy with them that saved me a nice wad of cash.In fact it works out that i've saved the next 5 years SIDC membership. And it's not that often you get to chat to the fella sorting your car insurance out about the benefits of an anti lift kit & drop links.Nice one!!!!!
  16. Think I prefer the look of the S203 but i've not yet seen one of these 'swept wing grille' 'hawkeye lamp' motors in the flesh. But let's face it i'd take one in crystal metallic silver grey without much persuasion.Bit low on bhp though only 316?
  17. Nice one can't beat those Speedline Safari's (if that's what they are :confused look top notch on classic.
  18. Welcome mate all the best & hope you enjoy the Scoob & SIDC
  19. Would go for the Focus mate, NCAP 5 star rating, best selling car in UK,would probably hold it's value better than the Mondeo.Thinking about getting one, the wife has taken a bit of a shine to the new ST.
