yes its happened before with classics there was a few 98 model sti from the rising sun land registered on 51 and 02 plates take a look on scoobynet its just down to how the DVLA have registered it when it came i think some car that didn`t have corredt documents showing when they were first registered were given the current reg instead of the original year. you will prob find the car came into country same time as a 52 plate was out. hope that makes sense
