Been in touch with the garage. They say that you don't need to touch the thermostat to change the timing belt, so therefore it couldn't have been them. They also said that if they had, it would have been refitted correctly and it is bad luck that the bolt would have worked loose. Also they think it is unfortunate that this has happened and under no circumstances would they reimburse me with any money. Well I think I need to give them a call and explain all the problems that was had when I first took the car back from them, ie Coolant leaking onto the manifold. Maybe they did not fix that properly and therefore it is their fault.

Looking nice there Dave. So how many guages is that now?

Morning dudes. Just had a call from the garage about my car. £840 per cylinder head and a total cost to me over aboyt £2.5k []. Turns out that the work carried out on the timing belt replacement has probably caused the problem. They did not refit a bolt properly on the thermostat housing, which has allowed a gap to appear and the car to loose coolant. This inturn has caused a high heat which has fried the head gasket and cracked both cylinder heads. [:@]. I have been in touch with the garage which changed the timing belt and am waiting on a reply. But the cylinder heads needed are on back order and also look as if they are shimmed (???), which means the parts will not been here until mid march and yet another month without my car. [] But hopefully I will be able to recover some of the cost from the garage and get my car sorted asap.

Morning dudes, no word from the garage when my car will be ready [], but they have said that if it is not ready they will give me a better courtsy car and deliver mine to me in the north east when it is ready. Not too bad.[]

Got sent this today, not sure how true it is but though people should know, also 1 person has said this was mentioned on the radio today. From: mike divers [mailto:miked@manx.net] Sent: 07 February 2006 22:21 Subject: Gynaecology service destroyed by inept politicians and managers Importance: High OK, just in case any of you wonder why I am even more pi55ed off than usual. The DHSS has run out of money and need to save millions! As a consequence they intend to close ward 4, my gynaecology ward and merge it with the surgical ward. As a conqsequence elective surgery will be virtually impossible, emergency services for women will be extremely difficult and patient safety is likely to be compromised in the longer term. Please feel free to tell everyone you know, complain to your MHK, anything to express your concern that the Health Service is managed by a bunch of incompetant idiots who have come up with a master plan to save money without having the balls to discuss it with a single clinician at the hospital. By the way, other things on the list are: close 2 Intensive care beds, close 4 elective orthopaedic beds close one cornary care bed cancel all waiting list intiatives including joint replacements. This will effect you and your families. Please make a noise! I am extremley angry and if a job opportunity were to present itself elsewhere would seriously consider relocation at the moment. Thankyou. Mike

Morning dudes. Well this is it. I have handed my notice in and am moving back across in about 3 weeks, I have been given a teaching post in the North East. Just wondering, if my car is not ready when I am set to leave would anyone be willing to take me for one final lap?

<< Andy you must be missing your car now, did they give you one of their 'lovely' courtesy cars. >> Really missing it at the moment. They did give me a lovely 1997 Suzuki Belino 1.6 petrol. I went to the clay pigeon range the other day and drove at 30mph down the dirt track because the car is not mine. I keep falling out of the seat when I go round corners. Can't wait to get mine back and put some new toys on it.

No news yet, which is a shame. Got a new toy delivered today. Toy. Can't wait to get the car back and fit it.

Afternoon Dudes. << Yes that was me Andy dude, I was taking the missus to the airport .... Which office M8 ???? >> The office just before the Britannia Building society, Royal Trust House.

<< Amazed I've never been pulled for the exhaust on mine as it's straight through 3" from the turbo back and I've not really heard any louder ones, hence why I want to get that apexi thing for it! >> I was looking after a friends house, and heard Jim's car. The noise increased for well over 1 minute until I saw him drive past, then I could still hear the noise for another minute. Is there an easy DIY way to check how loud your exhaust is, I am current running it standard and would like to see what the increase is when I fit the decat, centre section and back box.

Morning dudes, Andi555 did I just see you driving past the office in Athol Street?

Morning dudes, had a call from the garage last night. They are going to drop the engine out and work out which gasket has gone. They are then going to send it off to an engineer to presure test it incase the cyclinder head is cracked. Then slap it all back together and jobs a goodun. Could be about two weeks depending what parts need to be ordered, and I may have to pay some money if the claim exceeds the warranty.

Morning dudes. Only 3 more posts I am no longer a Newbie.

Well the garage are doing a good job in pi$$ing me off at the moment. "Well we think it is the head gasket but we have not had a look", Why not?, "Well we got a lot of cars in at the start of the week", but my car has been in for 10 days now, "Well we should be able to look at it by the end of the week". Suppose I will have to give garage owner a call tonight and tell him to give his service dept a kick up the ar$e.

Just wondering if anyone one the Island fits alarms. Don't have one at the mo and the central locking on the key buttons doesn't always work. Does anyone know of somewhere that fits them at a decent price or am I better off waiting till I am back across? Cheers
