  1. Got a call from the Ford RSOC last night who are havgin a big event on at Knockhill this Sunday. They have an open pit lane event on track from 9am to 5pm, with an hour for lunch and there are a few spaces available at a cost of only £100. Contact Ron Walker on rsocscotland@hotmail.com or by phone on 07977 443167 if you are interested in a place. They are looking for good quality cars to take part only (ie cars that would be eligible for the hot marques event). The usual cars and drivers that take part in Hot Hatch events will not be welcome (ie usual rusty fiestas, metros and the like). It should be a great day out, and there are even concours competitions going on etc. I can't make it along myself (it's fathers day and I've got previous arrangements), but I'm sure some of you will be keen on the chance of a full day track event at a sensible price. Cheers John
  2. Pete, Google Maps just enter the address you are looking for, and a few seconds later clear and accurate road maps! Basically, as you head towards Aberdeen, take the harbour road (sigposted football traffic). Go over the flyover and you'll come to a roundabout with Burger King on the left and a Shell petrol station. Go straight ahead down the dual carriageway (watch out it's a 40mph limit and regularly watched by the local camera partnership) until you come to the next roundabout. Take a right here, and you'll come across another smaller roundabout. Go straight ahead here (past the white Nexen building on your left) and a bit further on (downhill section), you'll come to another roundabout. Take a left here and this takes you onto Minto Drive. Please note that the main road and this area in general can be very busy around 8am - 9am, so allow 10 - 15 minutes for this last part of the journey to be on the safe side. Good luck with the interview. John
  3. BTTT, discs from any turbo from MY99 onwards will do, even from bug/blob-eye cars which were fitted with 4 pots. The condition is really un-important - they can be warped and/or rusty - as long as they are in one piece! John
  4. Dave, I've not had a chance to see Alan yet. Hopefully he'll be home tonight and I can confirm our entries tomorrow. John
  5. Just to let everyone know that Black Circles have some superb prices on tyres in their warehouse clearance at the moment, particularly 18 inch tyres: Cheap Tyres Prices include mail order delivery and VAT. Stocks are limited, so order quick if you will be needing new tyres in the next few months. John
  6. Hi everyone. Glad you all thoroughly enjoyed yourself. I was very surprised the weather held out for almost the whole event as well - makes a big difference if the weather is the same for the whole event. No complaints about driving standards this time Roll on the next one on the 25th September. Same time, 9 - 12 on a Sunday morning. Sorry the times aren't ideal, but it's all we can get at a weekend this year due to the race calendar. John
  7. Ian, got your PM. My mobile number is printed in True Grip if anyone ever needs it John
  8. Yes, it's still all systems go for tomorrow John
  9. Hi Rob, sounds good. Not got the PA sorted yet, but wasn't expecting that to be a major problem. Still trying to find timing equipment for the event. Other car clubs more than welcome John

  11. I'll be there Need a few volunteers to assist with the Alford set-up, and to take on the responsibility for various bits and pieces regarding that event John
  12. James, there are two cafe's on site, so getting hot water won't be a problem. John
  13. Martin, sorry you won't be able to make it along. We'll be collecting money for Northsound Radio's Cash for Kids charity on the day, both in terms of donations and passenger laps around the track. John
  14. Just spoken to Eric, he's on his way home having been released from hospital and feeling a lot better. He's hoping he may be able to return to work later next week John
  15. Very sorry to hear that. John
  16. Speak to Derek Barr on 0141 554 3333 about Armourfend Protection. he has offered SIDC members a good discount off list price, or if you just want to chat about the products/options available. John
  17. There's even a local place that does discounts to SIDC members. I'll dig out the details and post them up later today. John
  18. David at DR Motorsport has one, and was looking to make up replicas for people.

  20. I hate to say this, but you could try lowering the price a bit if you *really* need to sell quickly. It's a bit of a buyers market at the moment and there are many newer cars than yours (OK probably not to the same spec and condition) for less money, even on a dealers forecourt. The majority of buyers aren't aware of the differences between the models, just look at the age & price and probably see yours as quite a bit more expensive than the others and don't give a 2nd thought as to why and just move onto the next one. With an RA, you are probably looking at a fairly limited market of people who are specifically looking for an RA and know what they are looking for. It's probably a case of hanging on for that buyer to turn up, or take a bit of a hit on price to move quickly. Might be worth phoning around some of the traders who often have these cars to see what they would offer you for cash (e.g. Brian Downie, Sunnyhill etc.) Even the car dealer in Kintore has one on his forecourt at the moment. You should expect a bit more than that from a private sale (up to £1k), and the trader will probably put it on his forecourt for £500 - £1k more than that to allow for trade-ins etc. John
  21. If you've got low pressure in one of the cylinders, then ripping the a**e out of the car could only do more damage than good. From the sounds of things it could be a piston ring, in which case it's probably advisable to take the car to a garage/dealer that knows about the cars and can do a proper diagnostic test on it. If it's something like a faulty injector, then best too to get this seen to asap (though you could swap these over yourself to see if the problem moves to another cylinder). There are workshop manuals available to download from the internet somewhere if you look hard enough, though please note that they are copyrighted material. John
  22. Ian, it's in the ever growing list of things to do. Need to do the write-up/competition for True Grip for these first. John
  23. Cal is correct - you'll need to bring your driving licence as well for future track days. The event organiser must also inspect each mounted camera to satisfy themselves that it is safe. John
  24. Cal, daylight until about 22:30 at this time of year I was out doing work in the back garden last night until about 22:10!! See you all there! John
  25. Yes, there will be some places on track for non-Imprezas. You'll need to be there early for the sign on, as they'll be first come first served. John
