SIDC Trackday in Banzai Magazine - Feb 2005 edition
evojkp replied to CAZ1562's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Thumbing thru' the mag in WHS today and got a bit of a surprise seeing my car. It's not a mag I buy normally, usually use the newsagents as a library, but parted with the cash for this one Spooks, I think it is you on the car. -
Neil, I done that very same course back in 1998 and can not recommend it enough. The confidence you get with 1:1 tuition and someone taking the time to teach is top notch.

Cal, just get a feel for the car. Once you build up the confidence your entry and exit speeds will start to increase. Use the 4wd to pull you through corners. Once you get a small bit of drift you know you are pushing hard enough. Your car will easily drift and slide, just needs a bit of provoking. As for tail oot, the easiest way is to turn in to the corner under heavy braking, as the back end will be very light and will start to come around. Not recommended turning into Duffus tho' Haunys in the Impreza are not a good idea, as you can do some damage. For that you should have come to the darkside mate, as there is a sensor on the handbrake from the VII onwards, that 'unlocks' the diffs, ACD and AYC to allow you to do this. Enjoy. ...John

Cheers Guys. Wasn't having a dig...well maybe I was Only one bite tho' On Snet I'd have had death threats by now John, do you have any details on the one in Abz, price, location, contact details? Dave, he's looked on there and various other places. Trying to get a good P1 is like finding hens teeth. I've tried to persuade him towards the darkness, but so far he has resisted. Funny you should mention the GTR. I'm getting the hankering for a change soon and have been surfing around looking at R34s.

Here's me thinking you SIDC bhoys had the finger on the pulse as well Not no-where near as helpful as the good chaps on SNet. Ever wonder if you all made a mistake and followed the piper???

Are there any P1's for sale around the central belt. My mates looking at one at S&S circa £19k. Anyone know this car??? ...John

Congrats Cal. It's been a while in the pipeline. Looking forward to a duel at Knockhill soon.

He apparently rolled end over end a few times. Looks like a busted nose and concusion. Both he and Tina were flown to hospital for checkups. Both are expected to fly home tomorrow. Good to see McCrash aint lost it Just glad both were able to walk away from it.

Dates are 24th March until 27th. I intend to go out on the ferry departing 23rd and come back on the Sunday overnight to Rosyth, unless the ferry costs are too dear, then a quick blat down to the chunnel will be in order.

I've the E8 as a courtesy car for a week until the DVLA local office opens up. Somewhere along the way there was a slight error in the cars registration, so I could not get it taxed. So to save it being impounded and crushed by plod, it's tucked away until tomorrow when I can get the mess sorted out. Although the tax was out of date by 24 days when I noticed it It had to be xmas eve when the DVLA were shut, just my donald duck They were the ones to 'suggest' it was off the road until it was sorted out. Western gave me the car to tide me over. E8 and E7
