  1. Origin B2 is the best, very discrete and takes 5 minutes to put it. Easy. Mount it down beside the cigarette lighter, it has a wiring harness - plug it into the cigarette lighter, run the GPS ariel somewhere under the trim/carpet whatever, plug in any extra's (laser alert etc) - is is really straight forward. You can take the Origin out of the car - its slightly bigger than a credit card - but it leaves all the mount, the wiring etc in place. You can get it hardwired (easily) into cigarrette lighter if you don't want to plug it in but I had mine for 2 1/2 years - it was great, £50 subscription updated with all the cabling and software that comes with it (on a PC) and it never misses a trick. Road Angel is great, but look really big and clumsy beside a proper Origin B2 install. I sold mine 2 weeks ago to Little H down South - but apparently Halfords are doing them for around £200 - there can be no bigger Bargain - I paid £430 for mine. Well worth the money - can't recommend it enough. I am suer it will also control a garage door opener too [] Brian []
  2. Someone told me before that the red and yellow dots on the sidewalls of the tyres are to indicate where the valve should go beside the tyre - apparently the tyre is lightly strengthened at that point - I think yellow was for beside the valve and red was for the opposite side to the valve. Someone must know this. Rarely have I ever seen a tyre fitted with these done properly. Brian []
  3. Stephen, Consider yourself being closely watched for that disgraceful joke! Brian []
  4. Nice to know your car is getting respect Peter [] Brian []
  5. Hey - you can almost see tread on those tyres []
  6. Looks good. Must be the most popular mod on SIDC at the moment! Other than cleaning cars or selling them []
  7. An R.O.'s job is not arrange every event. They are also there to assist member in their areas with things such as events etc They are there as a central liaison point for members. Brian []
  8. Thanks Imy, Not 100% sure what I am looking for but it needs to be reliable and fairly standard for me from a piece of mind (and insurance) perspective. It will not be a daily driver, but I'd maybe still like one or two comforts for taking it away or on longer runs, such as electric windows, and maybe even soundproofing []. I would not like to not use it because Julie would not get in it, which would be a shame. She said she even fancies a wagon [] because she'd drive that and it looks less "in your face". I would not get the benefit of buying a late plate £10k Type R etc as I will never drive it hard enough to warrant it - I prefer not to try to kill myself every time I get in the car. There is an abundance of choice available at the moment and I may either, for my budget end up with an early WRX RA (1993/94) or an early STI - there are loads of cars that fall into the budget, with some very nice ones up and down the U.K. I will certainly travel to find the right car. I am not hugely demanding in my requirements for what the car is able to do, so if there was a nice unabused and looked after, PPP'd U.K. car then that would also be a consideration. Brian []
  9. I can only apologise Rab is you think there are underhanded PM's - there are certainly not. I was out last night - when I got in people had replied to my post, including Grant, and I had several PM's. In grant's post he said to phone but as I don't have his phone number he sent me a pm - the only thing it contained was his number - not even a single word, just the number. There is nothing in any of the posts above where I have written anything relating to you or your car. Apologies if you think that, but you are wrong. Brian.
  10. You must be [] I am still a bit lost about the PM thing - Grant sent me a PM, I replied, that was it. I want a pretty standard car, still limited and with little or no mods...that is what my comment meant - I am sure there are many RA's/Impreza's track prepared or drag prepared - I was not getting at them either.
  11. Eh? What PM? My post had nothing to do with your car or your post - if you look at the times they are only a few minutes apart and I was writing my reply to Grant when you posted yours. Not aimed at your car - I know nothing about it.
  12. Post removed - mis-timed overlapped with rabskylines. Misunderstanding caused.
  13. Use the car, get it dirty - but clean it too! You wouldn't not clean yourself after a hard run! (Well, maybe some would [;])
  14. Better than his other suggestion - SWRT travel rug [] []
  15. Very good advice there - thanks for that. I'd certainly be looking at an onwer who knew what he was doing - these cars need at least good servicing. I don't want to buy a piece of crap someone is trying to offload. I need a good one. Brian []
  16. [] Thanks Stephen - I can agree with your sentiments there. I want one with useful mods (exhaust, brakes, suspension, map etc) without having rakes of unknown Japanese mods on it, ready to blow! Or that I immediately need to spend £2000 on gear for it. Brian []
  17. The dry hard stuff will be sealer - the stuff that crumbles dirt! Try washing it with a soapy sponge - it will only wash off the dirt - that can't do any harm []
  18. Slipping already and no replies... What would you buy?
  19. You might be better off posting this in general to get more response or run a search. Brian []
  20. Good tip - the flaps put up with a bit of "scrubbage". I use the Poorboys Wheel Sealant - it is very good and the wheels onl need wiped to get the crap off them. You could realistically use a dry cloth, but a wet cloth will clean them up fine. The brake dust inside the wheels just wipes off. My wheels have done 2000 miles since they were done and I have only washed them once. Good stuff. You need to take the wheels off, get them gleaming clean, add several coats of the wax per wheel etc. That way they will be protected. Brian []
  21. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/dont-ask-divorce-t535280.html OH DEAR []
  22. I have posted this in general too but some local advice from known sources would also be good. My dilemma is as follows: When I (shortly) plunge into buying a classic Impreza for sub £5k (preferably nearer £4k) - what should I buy? Options seem to be pretty wide as it really is a buyers market and people just can't shift these things! For the money I could get: A choice of MY97/98 or even 99 UK Classic, with or without various mods and various mileages. Various imports - WRX's, STI's, RA's etc at various ages from 1993 - 1997's with again a choice of mods (or not) and mileages. Never thought it would be so baffling or so much choice for the price. Help me make up my mind. I need a car which does not look over the top (don't mind STI spoiler etc but NO STUPID KITS, big front splitter etc.). It needs to be in mechanically sound condition and not really need any money thrown at it for a while. Ideally with upgraded brakes and suspension bits (not necessarily shocks but drop links etc). It will do less than 5000 miles a year as a "toy" and fun car, but will be methodically looked after in servicing terms and, especially, bodywork - it will be detailed as much as possible - so need one which has also been looked after with care. I will have it for quite a few years. I know the spec arguments of the imports being superior in performance/equipment versus UK cars - but uk cars can be easier to shift on in a few years to buyers who know nothing about imports, and "may" be cheaper to insure and fuel. SO - opinions at the ready - which car for less than £5000? Had quite a few offers already on my Primera GT (stupidly cheap price) as a P.Ex. against an Impreza - but what do I REALLY want? There are many cars available - Scoobynet is bursting with them... Brian []
  23. TAXI [Y][]
  24. Meercat or C&C Hillington will build you a very good system. Peter FAI17 is selling a full Meercat system just now, with free fitting. Don't know if it will fit you car. Brian []
