  1. All the bugeye and Blobeye WRX's have 3 cats - Uppipe, Downpipe, Cat pipe. The Sti's from the same years have only got 2 - Downpipe and Cat pipe. This is why the WRX's have an EGT sensor in the uppipe, to monitor egt's in case they get too high and cause the Cat to disintegrate and fly into the compressor wheel causing no end of harm to the turbo. Russell ps - just noticed I pushed the 4 instead of the 5 should have read VF35.
  2. If you want to get more air onto your induction kit without getting water on it................Remove the rubber strip on the bonnet just where it sits above the Drivers Headlight. This gives any extra supply of outside air to keep the air temp through the Induction kit lower. Russell
  3. << The reason Bing can get away with it and still get good power is because he's running a TD05 Cal >> I bloody hope that he doesn't have a TD05 on his car........I fitted a VF35 and STi (decatted) uppipe............................At least I think I did Russell
  4. Marc is right ( I wonder how he found that one out, must keep some info to myself) it is the vacuum supply to the brakes. If it stays disconnected, you'll see an "interesting" change in braking power ie, no assistance! Russell
  5. They reduce the transmission of heat from the hot engine block into the Inlet Manifold, thereby lowering your charge temps a little as well. Also raised the old MY93-96 Inlet Manifold to allow F/E Turbo fitting and air pipe like the MY97- cars. 2 jobs for the price of one! Russell
  6. Hell probably map the car with OB and reduce the advance by a couple of degrees (or vice versa) to compensate for no OB. Mail Andy and he will suggest the best option for you, he knows what he is doing so ask th emaster! I've Pm'ed you anyway but it'll be best to just map the car without OB and run OB when you use it on track days, etc when the charge temps get higher and risk of Det increases! Russell
  7. Bing - you can opt for the dual map using the ECUTek system. Use one on 1.1 bar with Optimax only and set the other up for 1.4 bar on OB + Optimax. Andy knows how to do it and that was you'll have a nippy day-to-day car and then a b-road monster that spits flames Russell ( HOME IN 30 DAYS!)

  17. Seems to be a lot of Uncles on here. Don't you agree, Uncle Boyakasha Russell
  18. Glad to see that al is well, a bit of boost is OK with what you have but remember the "B-road blasts" are out until the remap is done. Keep us advised, good power is quite achievable with what you now have. Russell ps - keep me update on the TMIC situation as I can supply "official" paperwork for court purposes if need be pps - PM me your address and Reg Number as I need to send the invoice to you:eek:
  19. I'll be there as well Jools, you have email so let me know exact point of meet and I'll be there. Russell
  20. HMM - I was obviously more drunk than I though this morning eh? I don't even remeber writing this but do remember waking up by the computer  Russell
  21. Jamie - I take the wife to work every day (works at Instalec, behind the hotal you stay in) call me on 01224 749972 if you fancy a beer one evening! I am onlky 3 miles from the Shepherds Rest! Russell
  22. I'm up for a meet if your up here during the week, Shepherd rest would be classed as my "local" anyway Russell
  23. Ge tthe basic dimensions of the battery, go to Costco and pick up a similar one (cost me £35) and fit it in the car park (I did!) Russell ps - call me if you get stuck - 01224 749972
  24. You'll need to get a Check Engine Light (CEL) fix, they can be had for around about £15 from all good stockists (might have a spare myself!) and it fools the ECU by showing a certain resistance from the Cat-Pipe Lambda sensor so it thinks that the cat is still there and doing its job! Russell ps - If you have had a Tek3 done, the Mapper can program this into the ECU and so you won't need the fix.
