  1. << [ Craig, I think that Chris's RB5 would get off the line slightly quicker than our 300bhp STi v9's, due to the turbo coming in eariler and small matter of a 200kg advantage, but we would go past it as the speed increases due to the higher torque and power. I think rolling start with our turbos going we would beat it but his turbo comes in around 2750 rpm! On the twisty's it would be very close. If we keep our DCCD's in auto mode then it would be even steven's - although we should have the extra adjustability to take it in the end. Having said that the RB5 is a very accomplished car and feels really rather rapid. I was impressed as it was a very easy car to drive quickly. Dave >> I would think it would be quite a fast car guys, anyone notice the "BHP Developments" sticker on the back? Like to hazard a guess who fitted all his stuff for him (Brakes, Defi's, KnockLink)?...................and he still has the Cat Downpipe in as I changed it for his MOT and we'll (hopefully) get it changed back when I get home. Then it really flies Russell
  2. If your in no rush I can pop by on Friday 11th Nov as I'll be passing AndyF's so I'll be in the area? 20 for the wrap and fitting or 10 for the wrap? choice is yours. Russell
  3. I never said anything about racing him.....I just thought that we would "move efficiently" along the road Russell ps - LIGHTWEIGHT! (JOKE!)
  4. Yes M8! we were 4 miles away when it happened and the pictures were from our radio op ( semi-pro photographer) and sent into ONGC office as they own the platform. Grim sight........................................and no bloody marshmallows either (SORRY) Russell
  5. I have loads of spare M12 X 1.25 bolts in the garage (lots of these required on the scoob) Try Grampian Fasteners (do a google search) as my contact there now keeps loads in stock for me to buy from him! Russell
  6. With ref to the Uppipe gaskets, Gruppe-S supplied me a load last time I ordered some sets so I had spares in the garage.................but not any more (last set went out 3 weeks ago;() I believe there iS ONE AVAILABLE FROM A tRANSIT dIESEL THAT WILL FIT. RUSSELL
  7. Callum - not quite! EGT probe is M12 X 1.25mm (Metric Fine) Lambda Boss is M18 X 1.5mm Russell
  8. You can get 360 Torque from a 20g but you'll need spot-on mapping for the midrange along with about 1.65 Bar (held, not spike) on a 20G with good quality headers on an engine with a very good VE (Volumetric Efficiency). Remember that Boost give Torque and Ignition Advance gives BHP. It's possible but your pushing things a bit. Consider a 20g on a 2.5 and you'll get 380-400 torque Russell
  9. Gruppe-S does the gaskets but just go for 3 of the compressable ones from Subaru for the Uppipe. Sounds to me like your supplier might have bought these in from the US about 18 months ago and still had that set in stock. I t happens. Machine shop should charge about 30-35 for A GOOD JOB! Russell ps - if your fitting them yourself try it first with the 2/3 gaskets, if it holds great, if it doesn't then take them off and put them to a machine shop!
  10. Peter - I was trying to explain that there has been lots of problems with Gruppe-s and other aftermarket US headers that have the 2-bolt fixings for the downpipe. As they are made in Stainless Steel, there seems to be a problem with the flatness of the flange between headers and Uppipe. I've supplied 3 or 4 people up in Aberdeen the MK 1 Gruppe-s headers, fitted them (or helped) and I've covered my arse by useing 2 or 3 gaskets in that region and (touch wood!) I've not had a set leak yet! BUT BE WARNED! Use of Anti-lag on a cheap set of headers (I hate to say that Pete but, to be honest, that is what they are) with SERIOUSLY reduce their life (as well as the life of the turbo, etc) to be cautious! 2 options: 1 - use 2 (if not 3!) gaskets instead of 1 (common cure for 90% of the leaks on Gruppe-s MK1 headers) 2 - get the flange skimmed flat at a machine shop BUT DO BOTH UPPIP AND HEADERS! Option 1 is the cheaper and gets the results 95% of the time. Let me know if you need help as I have some people able to do this for you. ps - I used Gruppe-S as an example M8, I realise that you have XS Power headers but the problems are very similar!
  11. Totally agree with you "Gummy" ref: driving styles. We need to, above all else, keep this a safe event as lots of newbies are coming and we need to teach these guys the right kind of roadcraft for Scoobies. I also hear from a contact in the Tayside Traffic division that they know about this and the A9 to Aviemore WILL BE WATCHED CLOSLY! Russell ps - above info DOES NOT COVER Wilky and myself as that will be a fight to the end
  12. GROUP 1- usual pace- WILKY 1. Wilky 2. WUZ (looking to play with Wilky!) GROUP 2- middle of the road pace- THE SQUIRREL 1. The Squirrel 2. scoobykev 3. RubyTheScooby GROUP 3- Family Group, relaxed pace- CORSA (TBC) OR GUMBALL 1. Gumball or Davie Corsa 2. Ed-209
  13. OK M8, I'm back on the 10th of Nov so I'll PM you then and we can discuss it further. Russell
  14. EVER SO SLIGHTLY! Russell
  15. Nice weather - just like it is over here (200 miles East of India) but a hell of a lot warmer over here! Russell
  16. Wrap. and clips to secure it, would be 50 (enough to do headers and uppipe). Wrapping them would be 20 (1 hour job). Let me know if you want the wrap on its own to try and DIY the headers yourself as I can still supply it at that money! Russell ps - I would also suggest painting them as well as wet wrap smells like a wet dog (unless you like that sort of thing) I can do that for the cost of the paint (fiver). pps - next time I pass you on Union Street..............I will flash you (this time)!
  17. It's worth doing for the exact reasons that Playsatan gave above. Hot air moves faster than cold. Russell
  18. I'll Still be there! Probably bring Marc along in the newly "mapped" RA! Russell
  19. Wilky - I think MEF has one and David Wallis or Rob Gallacher (both hang around on 22b.com nowadays) might have one as well. There was one on Ebay recently......bet you can't guess who ended up getting it Russell
  20. Dougster, I'd love to help as I live in Kingswells (close to Westhill) but seeing as I am currently drilling for the "black stuff" 6500 miles away from Knockhill, I'll have to decline Sorry M8, couldn't resist. I know of a few guys up there that MIGHT be going. I'll speak to them and see if one of them can bring it back for you. I'll let you know on Friday morning! Russell
  21. I took Marc's to get the slight crack repaired and I believe it is now done. Russell ps - Dave, you'd better hurry as I've also got someone interested in it as well and I'll have an answer for them by Wednesday
  22. Porting the headers is not easy as there is a lot of metal to remove. I've done several sets now and always seen an improvement in flow on all the cars I've done it too. Your looking at about 3 hours work to do it properly and thats using proper carbide burrs which cost 15-18 pounds each. Russell ps - Please bear in mind that doing it wrong can actually reduce the efficiency of your cars breathing so if your in any doubt, get Harvey to do them! Russell
  23. Old GruppeS headers (MK I) used a 2-bolt fixing but were VERY prone to leaking at the flange. They upgraded the MK II headers to have a 3-bolt fixing between Headers and uppipe and so this won't work with the new ones (produced for the last 2 years!) Sorry! Russell ps unless you want big power (360+BHP), porting the OE headers and using them will work a treat.
  24. Cal - you coming up for the meeting at the Lecht in November as I have the sticky things you required (need to get them to Gumball and Bing as well!)? Russell
