  1. Remapping is not illegal, neither is a lot of mods. Some are sold as track only for liability reasons of the manufacturer. What is illegal is when the car isn't road worthy through a combination of some of these mods. If you're running apexi and a cat and you pass emissions then you're fine.

Obviously if your car is modified then you must declare that to insurance to make you driving it legal too. KM know all about my mods.

  2. Are you sure John? According to Andy's website:

    06-07 STI UK/EURO 2.5 STD 265 BHP

    Level 2 340-360 bhp

Full Decat turbo back 2.5 " or 3” bore

Walbro 255 l/hr uprated fuel pump

    EcuTek custom remap

    K+N panel filter

  3. You don't need to go to Meercat as you already have the rest of the exhuast bits Davie. You just need the downpipe part.

So you need £130 for that, £600ish for Andy, and £70 for a fuel pump. Total = £800 plus labour if required. Job done.

  4. Davie, as you have an STI all you need is the decat downpipe exhaust wise as you have the rest done. You probably want to do the fuel pump too - which is not expensive anyway.

I got a decat downpipe from Gus who gets it from his mate. They're sitting at about £130 on ebay. You'll get the pump for about £70. Then just need Andy to work his magic after that.

  5. Two things - have you check the connector on the brake? Might be worth unplugging it and having a look. It should sit under the bootlid. I have mine unplugged as my wing has no light.

Second - If you can take the brake light out then it should be repairable with some red leds from maplins and a soldering iron.

  6. Once I decide to go for it I'll need to give Sparco 2 months notice to get enough Nomex together for a clown suit.

I've already done some research and found that you can buy bucket seats in extra ninja sizes ;)

I've driven an EK civic with the B16 in it. Had it as a courtesy car when my old 1.4 (first car!) was in for a service. So I can imagine that in a wee stripped out CRX it could be quite entertaining.

  7. lol, I doubt that would even fit up the hill at Doune!

John - if I can't do it next year then hopefully the year after that. Not sure what in yet. Looking at a cheap tin top to start with to see if I like it. Thinking an EK Civic might be a fun place to start to see if it tickles me in the right places.

Need to learn a bit more spannering skills - oh and progress my career to fund it!

Until then I will keep snapping as they're always great weekends and the paddock banter is good.

  8. Well Sunday's took a bit longer than I hoped. Up there now though - http://www.flickr.com/photos/st3ph3n/sets/72157606581009368/

  9. I watched as your Missus was applying suncream to your already Beetroot Face, thinking at the time 'the horse had already bolted' :rotfl:

    Thanks for that John.

As it was pishing it down on Saturday morning I hadn't prepared for it, but took precautions on the Sunday. The horse had already bolted, but I was trying to limit the distance from the stables it had gone. :rotfl:
