  1. Good news mate. ALWAYS be polite to the cops if you are pulled over. It goes a long way when they write their report. [] They have to describe road condition, weather, your driving, attitude. All sorts. Can make a huge difference. [] Another reason it will not go to court is that they are struggling wit the volume at the moment, have been for years actually. This is why it is almost always worth the "not guilty" plea. You will have pleanty oppertunity to change your ple at a later date if its looking bad. There are however many changes taking place in the near future. Some very big ones too. They are planning to have a system set up where there is a seperate court, dealing only wit hmotoring offences. They are also looking to close up some of the loopholes that have been working for years. They recon that the lost revenue will pay for the changes and courts in 6 years. [] Then its all proffit.
  2. Yeah, I know what you mean. Not much point comparing a std car to a modded one. I was just trying to get accross the point that they are not to be under estimated. They are NOT short of power to keep up with a std UK turbo. Although I must admit std v's std the Scoob would win every time in the twisties, especially in the wet. But for an N/A car of equal cc to keep up in a straight line is impressive. They rev so high. The comment about nothing till 6k is not really correct. The ivtec engine (EP3 CTR) has kind of moved away from that. (Not sure if this is good or bad) Also when you know what you are doing, you will stay in vtec all the time and have all the performance you need. Off the line it is not as easy for the Type R, but this is more to do with the lack of 4x4 traction as opposed to low down power / torque. And like I say an LSD will keep the CTR right there with the scoob round the corners. Not alot to lash out considering the CTR was cheaper than a UK scoob. Cue the DC5 with its LSD, boy those things are fast. Even in the corners. A car I'd like to own as some point. But again they were never really designed to compete in the same market. The scoob a turbo'd 4x4 saloon, the CTR a FWD N/A hot hatch. The reason the CTR was so popular was the cost. They were cheap to buy, run and service. No turbo, and Honda reliability. [] Cant beat it. And like Doug says, Simon at Japerformance built one hell of a beast for Andy. A DC5 with a big a$$ turbo conversion with a Hondata, 360 BHP!!!!!!! Scott - with the CPL tunned, supercharged +Nos, CTR with a 12 sec 1/4 mile. Dont know how many ponnies???? So they can be pushed. []
  3. Give the CTR an LSD and it will be right there with you. []
  4. The R's are not to be underestimated. I had an Accord Type R for 18 months and it kept up with many a scoob. [] The Civic is on an equal par with the accord, even with its 2.0ivtec as opposed to the accord 2.2vtec. That engine works so well for being N/A. A CTR will keep up with a std UK scoob even round the twisties with the addition of one little mod. An lsd. The CTR responds very well to breathing mods. A full eggsauce, CAI, and a unichip is a cheap upgrade to make one quick rice rocket, believe me. It has been tried and tested many times by Dastek. Scott's CTR is one quick whip. Slicks, supercharger and Nos has now given him an 11 sec pass. From a FWD!!!!!!!!!!
  5. owt like that to make you realise your living. [] Must have enjoyed the first pint. []
  6. Yup. Like Dunc said. It can take almost 4 hours depending on weather and rig location. There are some that aren't too bad though. Captain field is only about 40 mins (Just north off Fraserburgh coast) and Alba aint that far either. Another strange experience is when you fly out there but cant see the rig for fog, and you have to try and drop down into the fog and hope to see the rig. [] Been there a couple times.
  7. Yup, mine too.
  8. just tried and failed at this. Took it off the road and declared SORN, only lasted a month. Going to the post office tomorrow to get some tax. [:$] I always use my 306 DTurbo for through the week - to and from work, but missed the scoob for that odd night / day that you fancy a blast. []
  9. Was due to go to the Stena Spey (another semi) this week but not going now, so wont find out. But I can imagine. Where about you at?
  10. Sure is. I bought it from his a few months back. He bought a bigger house so downsized to a MkII golf gti. Although that is due to change again in the near future. []
  11. Some of the cat:- Although credic for the pics must go to the last owner Chris, Not had time to upload any of the ones I have. [:$]
  12. Got my order in for these today. [] Thanks for the advice folks.
  13. Cheers Greegsy. They look spot on by the way. []
  14. These are the ones I got for my bugeye as well...they are a grand job....... Paul Just had a look at these. Seem to be a good product. And best of all they are at the right price. []
  15. You people have dirty minds. [] I'm looking to get some mud flaps for my classic, but not at the prices of the prodrive ones, or even the Scott Lowe ones. [] Afterall I'm a sheep, and we all know how greedy we are. [] Not looking for nowt fancy, just a set of black ones along the same design. Looked at a few on E-Bay and just wandered if anyone had bought some from any of the sellers on there? Thanks for any help. Duncan
  16. Gunmetal would look best. IMHO. Not a hugh fan of gold wheels. [] Goes to find flame suite. []
  17. Craig, You've got an E-Mail.
  18. Back at ya, big man.
  19. Craig - I touch goats. Check date of alleged offence and date of NIP (sent) closely. Frank - There is a fair bit of typing involved, pepipo is a good source of info, but be carefull as most advice given is from down south, and English Law can differ greatly at points. Also word the post carefully. Go in with a "I was speeding but want to get off with it" and you will be flamed. Tell "the truth" and help may be at hand. More info is required. - who owns the car, where, when, speed, speed limit, camera type or traffic cops. That kinda stuff
  20. Also, on the sticky valve - if its been run on optimax and has been opened up from time to time it shouldn't suffer from sticky valves.
  21. It's a bit difficult to try and diagnose without actually hearing it Dave. Could be tappets. Common enough. Once the engine has been running for a while, does it go away?
  22. I'll bring some food and a couple of chairs. []
  23. Just another example of how nice a guy Wuz is, I posted up that I was strugling to get gaskets without paying a fortune from T&C and Wuz gives me the offer to phone his wife and go round and get them from from his garage. For as good as free too. And he's miles away. And I've only met the guy once. He is a true enthusiast, friend and genuine guy, who will do anything to help. Thanks again Russell and I hope you continue with the scoobs, it would be a big loss to the ABZ scooby community. Duncan
  24. Holly Cr@p. I have no idea what has started this although I know that the tuning game can be a big slagging match at times. Russ, I have only met you once (Despite all the PM's back and fore [:$]) but right away I knew where I wanted my Scoob to go. The knowledge you have would be wasted if BHP were to close. You set me on the right path and even told me the best places to get my parts, even though you could have got them for me and charged me a fortune. That alone showed me that you are in it for the love of tuning scoobs. I know you have offered to continue with my car but I still feel that lots of people are going to loose out on a great service at a great price. The proof is in the pudding as they say, and I have only ever heard good things about you and BHP Developments. I have never heard bad things from a customer. Who cares what the "proffesionals" think. Like you say, they are there for the money. (Not saying they don't do the job) as they need to be run as a buisness. Pay overheads and the like. Russel I honestly wouldn't let these people put you off what you love doing (And it is clearly done out of love, not driven by money). I know it cant be easy with a young family and time spent at home is valuable, but don't let them win. Continue with helping make our scoobs go fast. Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please
  25. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. All sorted now. A Big thanks to Wuz for the kind offer. A big thanks to WP for the turbo gasket at an excellent price. And thanks to Subaru T&C for lightening my wallet of £60. [][] Hope I have it all back together soon. []
